AfterEllen at the Out100: Samira Wiley, Mary Lambert, Hannah Hart and more

Last night we headed to the 2014 Out100 celebration in New York City where the red carpet was freezing cold and the stars were hot. We chatted with Samira Wiley, Mary Lambert, Hannah Hart, Lea DeLaria and Britne Oldford (Ravenswood).

Inside, things were much warmer. Lea Delaria cracked some joke and welcomed everyone to the event and introduced all the OUT 100 special guests. She also gave a short tribute to Leslie Feinberg, who recently passed. Mary Lambert delighted the quite rambunctious crowd with her tunes “She Keeps Me Warm” and “Secrets.” Ellen Page accepted her award for Entertainer of the Year remotely, as she was on set. Samira Wiley accepted the award for Ingenue of the Year, thanking her fans and her parents for making sure she knew it was OK for her to be herself.

David Burtka (husband of Neil Patrick Harris), Paul Bettany and Zachary Quinto also made appearances. A green haired and charming Tyler Oakley accepted his Reader’s Choice Award, and the the noise and excitement kicked up a notch when MNDR took to the stage with her thumping electronic beats and modern dancers.

While the frigid temps made it a challenging red carpet for all involved, any night where we get to celebrate those who are out and making a difference in this word, is a great night.
