Yvonne Strahovski is Australian, so she’s probably no stranger to skewering things for the barbie. But the Chuck actress had pop stars in mind instead of jumbo prawns when she recorded a video for College Humor. “Three Pop Stars, One Song” is a parody of Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Lady Gaga (with a little Bieber fever thrown in for good measure).
The video is fun and the satire is as sharp as one of Lady Gaga’s shoulder horns. It’s also a tad NSFW, depending on how strict your workplace is about muffin bras and hangover vomit.
OK, first, I think her Katy skewering is pretty hilarious. She is “Zooey Deschanel, but without the shame or class.” Oh, snap. And kudos for skewering both the whip scream and sparkler boobs.
I wasn’t as into her Ke-Dollar Sign-Ha as much because she calling her a sloppy mess is like shooting fish in a barrel. Also, I’m not a huge fan of fake vomit. But her Gaga did make me laugh because I think the lady herself would enjoy it. If she arrives in an egg, it’s not too far of a stretch to think she needs other anatomical regions for sustenance.
Of course, her Justin Bieber might be her most convincing of all. Who knew the she could play an androgynous pre-pubescent nymph so well?
The timing of this video will hopefully bring a lift to Chuck, which just suffered its lowest ratings ever.
Hey, TV owners, if like the StraHOTski dancing around in tiny outfits, you should tune into her show. It’s not entirely unusual to show up in an episode looking like this.
