We open on a newscast that Black Mask is doing; he’s taken over every channel in Gotham. At the same time, Circe is getting dressed as a darker version of Batwoman (she cut the Bat symbol off Ryan’s suit to wear around her neck.) Then the city’s power is knocked out, presumably by Black Mask himself.

Cut to: Ryan is writing a farewell note to Gotham, as she is leaving the Batsuit eventually. As she is writing the letter, she has flashbacks to her near death fight with Circe from the last episode.

Luke and Mary are at the bar planning what the team’s next move will be. Ryan comes in and is a downer, saying she doesn’t think they have a chance. However, as Luke shows Ryan some of what he’s working on, Ryan says she has an idea…

Black Mask, meanwhile, is giving Circe the 411 on all of Batman’s old enemies as they go through his stash. Next to them, Tavaroff is being intensely injected with Snake Bite. To such a degree, that Tav has bulked him like he’s on steroids. Essentially, Black Mask is trying to make an indestructible army to take over Gotham and Tav is his test dummy. Tav starts convulsing uncontrollably.

Sophie comes to help Ryan look for Circe at Kate’s apartment. Alice comes storming in because she also wants to find Circe/Kate, but in that moment the streets of Gotham are going insane. The girls rush outside only to find the Mayor had been attacked; Ryan asks Sophie to stay with him while she goes to find Circe. Alice comes to the bar, and Ryan asks her to help her save Kate. Alice is reluctant, but eventually agrees.

Meanwhile, Luke is hunting through some of his dad’s old things to try to find something that can help them. Shockingly, he finds a Black Batsuit that his dad must have been working on… more on that later.

Mary is working over time at the clinic after Gotham went into a panic. While there, Tav comes in as he broke out from Black Mask; he’s whacked out on Snake Bite.

Alice and Ryan are in the Batmobile and they are talking about Ocean. Alice tells Ryan that she finally understands how Ryan felt when she killed her mother, and apologizes to Ryan. Ryan, however, doesn’t forgive Alice. Alice gets defensive, and points out that Ryan’s mom died in childbirth, saying that Ryan came into this world a mother-killer. YIKES.

Mary ditches the clinic for a bit and calls Luke, saying she has an idea… she wants to inject Circe/Kate with Snake Bite to help her remember that she is Kate, after all. Luke is for this idea, but right at that moment Tav breaks out of the clinic and starts to chase Mary… uh oh.

Black Mask’s minions destroy the Bat signal.

Ryan and Alice get attacked by Circe when they are trying to save her. Ryan chases after Circe, while Alice stays behind to fight Black Mask. While this is going down, Ryan’s farewell letter is being read on the news and people are saddened that she is leaving. They put out skull masks with lights in them to serve as a temporary Batsignal in their windows. So sweet.

Tav is still chasing Mary, thinking she has more Snake Bite (which she does… for Kate/Circe.) Tav pushes Mary off the ledge of a building, and right before she hits the ground, Luke saves her; dressed as Black Batman.

Ryan feels defeated, and says she can’t stop Circe. However, she looks up and sees all the people with Batsignals in their windows, and Mary encourages her to keep going. Tav attacks Luke while this is happening, but Luke beats him! Thank goodness.

Alice and Black Mask are fighting, and he says she is a terrible villain. Alice claps back, saying that the only good villain is Joker… then, she sprays Black Mask in the face and makes her escape.

Ryan goes after Circe with Sophie’s guidance in the Batmobile, while Circe is riding Kate’s bike. They eventually pull over and have some hand to hand combat. While duking it out, Alice shows up and sprays Snake Bite all over Circe/Kate. Alice and Circe/Kate fall off the side of the bridge into the water…

Alice also got high off the spray, and starts to dream of being with Ocean again. When Safiyah killed him, he was booking a camper for himself and Alice to live in. Safiyah told Alice she had to choose between Kate and Ocean, and when she didn’t, Safiyah chose for her. Alice finally says goodbye to Ocean, with one final kiss. Meanwhile, Kate/Circe is also dreaming of being a child – she is looking for Beth (Alice) and they finally find one another and embrace.

Alice wakes up, and Kate is washed ashore. Ryan and Alice do CPR on Kate until she wakes up; when she does, she sees Alice and says, “Beth.” Just in time, the police show up and arrest Alice despite her pleas to stay with her sister.

Cut to: Ryan is at her parole hearing. She is officially released from her parole! Yay!

Mary and Luke are in the office talking to Kate, who is finally 100% Kate. They ask Kate if she wants to help Alice, and she says no. Not until Alice wants to be Beth again. Ryan comes in, and Kate asks to be alone together. Kate tells Ryan that she wants Ryan to be Batwoman, and it’s not for her anymore. It’s truly a tender moment.

Speaking of tender moments, Kate goes to the bar to meet Sophie. Kate tells Sophie that she is leaving to go find Bruce, because she wants to save Batman once again. Kate says the timing never worked out for her and Sophie, and that they both deserve someone less complication. Sophie says that she hopes whoever Kate ends up with can compete with “this” and then embraces Kate with a passionate kiss. *screams in lesbian!!!*

Ryan goes to see Alice in jail, happy that she is there. Alice reveals that Ryan’s birth mother did not die during childbirth, and she is very much alive… then we cut to some poison ivy growing in the grass! Could it be?

Black out.
