We open up literally watching someone cook… in a meth lab? While the news is blasting in the background telling us about this new “Snake Bite” drug that gets people high AF. The same one Kane was trying to stop the spread of in the last episode… but we only touched on it briefly.

Cut to Ryan trying to stop a guy from taking Snake Bite. In full Batwoman attire, she hangs him upside down and asks who his dealer is. Ryan ends up in a high speed chase in the Batmobile to find the dealer, only to realize it’s not him. At that same moment, Ryan notices an alarm going off.

Turns out, a young boy set off the alarm. He wanted Batwoman to come to help him find his lost brother; they were both in foster care. Ryan agrees.

Meanwhile, Kane is holding a press conference where he says he believes that Kate is alive (yikes) and holds a $1 million reward for finding her! The largest reward offer Gotham has ever seen.

In the Batcave, Mary and Luke argue once again about Kate being alive. They don’t trust Alice, but Luke is still holding on hope that Kate will return. Luke leaves, and Ryan waltzes in to tell Mary about the young boy she met and how she wants to save his brother.

Mary and Ryan research the boys; turns out they were in a group home that Ryan used to be a part of as a foster child. Ryan flashes back to this time…

Ryan was in the group home and the other girls were making fun of her for talking too much. Suddenly, one girl breaks in through the window and has Ryan’s back.

Mary and Ryan take Ryan’s van to look for the missing boy, Kevin. Ryan has another flashback..

Ryan remembers looking at comics at a bookstore. A middle aged, white, suburban lady offers Ryan some candy, and asks if she wants to look at some comics. When Ryan says yes, the lady kidnaps her.

Cut to Sofie getting ready for work. She walks outside of her bedroom only to find Alice in her kitchen, making herself at home. Alice wants the two to partner while they look for Kate, Sofie reluctantly agrees. Alice tells her they need to find someone named Ocean as their first step.

Now, Kane is telling his team to find the artwork he has a photo of from Kate’s phone. It’s labeled “Safiyah???” and he knows that’s who to look for.

Meanwhile, Ryan is telling Mary what happened to her and has another flashback…

Ryan is being held hostage as a young girl by the Candy Lady. The CL has a jar of jelly beans and eats one every day, saying when they run out so will Ryan’s time there. (She was grooming Ryan to later become part of a gang.) Volunteers came by to find a girl, Ryan thought they were for her. Turns out, they were looking for a girl with “fair skin, blue eyes”… they were looking for Beth Kane.

Sofie and Alice are trying to find out more info on Ocean, when Luke knocks on the door. Alice answers, and holds a gun to his face.

Nevermind that, we are back with Ryan and Mary; they are looking through things at Kate’s apartments to look for clues about Beth – hoping to find the location of the CL, and Kevin too. Mary asks Ryan to move in, saying she has been living at Kate’s paid-for apartment, Ryan says yes. Cute!

Come to find out, the Nice Girl who helped Ryan in the foster home was actually her ex, Angelic. *screams in lesbian* Mary asks Ryan to call Angelic for info, but she gets a “sorry wrong number” text in response. Finally, they find an address for the CL, and Ryan goes alone.

Alice is still over here holding a gun pointed at Luke. Alice wants to kill Ocean, that’s why they need his info. Sofie pulls a gun on Alice, and says they could use Luke’s help. Kane leaves Sofie a voicemail and says he is going to follow a lead on Kate. Luke says he can’t find Ocean, but secretly lets Sofie know an address to find him. Sofie says she’s going after Kane’s lead, and leaves. Crisis averted, for now…

Ryan goes to confront the CL, and asks where Kevin is. CL sprays something in Ryan’s eyes and she passes out, while a couple of goons carry Ryan inside. Ryan wakes up in the Candy House, and has a flashback to her last time there.

Angelique had gotten herself kidnapped by CL in order to save Ryan. She ends up attacking CL, who sprays Ryan, but Aneglique helps Ryan break out of the daze and the girls escape, together…

Ryan is fully awake now, and breaks the glass jelly bean jar. As the CL walks in, Ryan attacks her and finds out where she sent Kevin.

Now we see Kane following his lead. Turns out, it’s the gang, who end up kidnapping Kane. Guess who knocked Kane out? None other than Kevin, the young boy Ryan is looking for!

Cut to Sofie at Ocean’s apartment. A girl attacks Sofie there, saying she was ransacking the place for drugs, etc. Alice shows up and stops them, and knocks Sofie out in the process, saying her motive has always been to find Kate and kill her.

Back with Kevin and Kane – the leader of this gang-event asks Kevin to shoot Kane. Ryan, as Batwoman, shows up right at that moment and attacks the gang goons. Kevin goes to kill Ryan, but Ryan convinces him not to by letting him know he is loved. Awww. Ryan leaves Kevin with Kane and bounces.

Sofie and Kane chat, saying that finding Kate is the first priority over busting the gang. Welp.

Ryan is at home now, in pain from her previous Kryptonite wound from a couple of episodes ago. Mary walks in and says maybe its time for her to start believing Kate is alive.

Alice finds a key at Ocean’s apartment and suddenly remembers exactly who he is! This surprises even her.

In the last scene, Ryan is at the bar. The girl who fought Sofie at Ocean’s apartment shows up, and we find out it is Ryan’s ex– Angelique! She lied about it being a wrong number before. Ryan says she wants the “girl who always had her back” back in her life, and they hold hands. Aka pure lesbian joy!
