Afternoon Delight: One Million Moms goes after Jillian Michaels, Katee Sackhoff’s “Growl”

Good afternoon my lovelies!

The founder of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Jeanne Manford has died at the age of 92.  Manford began her activism in 1972 after her gay son Morty was beaten during a Gay Activists Alliance demonstration. Subsequently, Manford wrote a letter to the editor of The New York Post, stating “I have a homosexual son and I love him.” Rest in Peace Jeanne.

One a lighter not, happy birthday to Joey Lauren Adams, Joely Richardson, Kate Middleton and Joan Baez! (Be honest, do any of you take issue with Joey Lauren Adams’ lesbionic film Chasing Amy, or is it just me?)

The anti-gay One Million Moms organization is after The Biggest Loser‘s Jillian Michaels, not for being queer but for swearing. WTF?

In this preview clip for the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Callie chooses sex over food. (Good call!)

Out actress Fiona Shaw is heading back to Broadway. Shaw will be playing Jesus’ mother in the one-woman drama The Testament of Mary. The play will begin previews on March 26 at the Walter Kerr Theatre and will run through June 16.

Tonight Sandra Bullock will receive the first ever Favorite Humanitarian award at the People’s Choice Awards on CBS. (Who’s their least favorite humanitarian?)

Here’s a glimpse of Martina Navratilova during her upcoming stint on Portlandia. I’m slowly falling in love with this show.

There’s a new trailer for the thriller Side Effects, starring Rooney Mara and Catherine Zeta-Jones. (I think this trailer looks a lot like the last one.)

If you need a reason to love out rocker Jessie J, check out the below photo.

Captain Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace, err, I mean Katee Sackhoff, will return to the big screen this year in the horror film Growl, which I will not be seeing because I’m a scaredy cat. The film is about “a traveling underground fight club called The Brawlers that happen upon a derelict ghost town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies.”

If you live in New York, head over to the Stonewall Inn on Saturday, January 26 for Velvet Park’s 10 Year Anniversary Party: A Decade in Dyke Culture.

Tweet of the Day!
