Morning Brew: President Obama continues to fight for LGBT equality, Dani Campbell lezzes it up on “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami”

Good morning, Brewbies.

President Obama has issued an official message to the National Conference on LGBT Equality, praising them for their history of grassroots political activism and encouraging them to continue to fight the good fight.

The White House also said on Friday that the issue of same-sex military benefits has the president’s attention:

The president is absolutely focused on and aware of the need to further implement DADT [repeal], and to ensure that proper benefits are provided … You know, for more details, I would point you to the Defense Department, but this is an issue the president is aware of and it has his attention.

And speaking of same-sex military spouses, Fort Bragg named lesbian military wife Ashley Broadway as the “spouse of the year.” She’s now in the running to be the Army’s national spouse of the year.

Hey, remember Dani Campbell from A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila? I’m pretty sure that’s the same Dani that became BFFs with Scott(?) on last night’s Whatever Kardashian Nightmare in Miami.

I guess there was also some kind of lesbian harem in the episode? I honestly couldn’t pick out a Kardashian in a line-up even if you offered to pay me a hundred thousand dollars, so I can’t really be sure what’s happening on this show.

Oh, wait, hang on. Yes, Dani Campbell confirms that Dani Campbell was on TV with the Kardashians last night.

ABC Family has released a couple of promo clips from tomorrow night’s episode, “Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Inferno,” and whooo boy, Spencer Hastings is in a bad way.

My favorite thing is when Spencer basically says they’re not going to sleuth anymore and Emily is just like, “WHAT?!?!”

Inspired by his own son’s struggle to come out as a young gay man, Canadian journalist Kevin Newman is trying to help parents learn how to be a safe place for their LGBT kids to land. His three-part series on Scott Heggart, the teenage hockey player who came out in a series of YouTube videos over the course of a year, is streaming on CTV’s website. (Have some tissues handy!)
