Morning Brew – Ellen’s new Oscar poster

Good morning!

The People’s Choice Awards aired last night and some of our faves won in their respective categories: Kimberly Peirce‘s Carrie won Favorite Horror Movie, The Good Wife won Favorite Network TV Drama, The Walking Dead was Favorite Cable TV Drama, Lucy Hale took Favorite Cable TV Actress, Super Fun Night is the Favorite New TV Comedy, American Horror Story won Favorite TV Movie/Mini-Series, Orange is the New Black won Best Streaming Show and Rachel and Santana are TV’s Favorite Gal Pals.

Ellen also won for Favorite Daytime TV Host (duh), but I wanted to share her new Oscar promo. Toni Braxton says she has a huge crush on the talk show host.

My lesbian crush would be Ellen (DeGeneres). I love how she dances. I like her haircut. Love everything about her. So this would be a way for me to channel my inner Ellen.
That last part is her talking about playing a lesbian on Orange is the New Black, which she is still hoping to do.

The National Enquirer says Queen Latifah is considering coming out now that Robin Roberts has made her relationship public. Can’t say that thought hasn’t crossed my mind!

I’m a little nervous, guys. Fox has picked up Hart Hanson’s nixed CBS series Backstrom, starring Rainn Wilson as a cop, which was set to have Mamie Gumner playing his lesbian partner. But Deadline reports that Mamie’s character is being “tweaked.” Does that mean de-gayed?

Every year Annie Leibowitz shoots celebrities as Disney characters and this year, Jessica Chastain poses as Merida from Brave. Results: Gorgeous.

Jane Lynch’s divorce is settled. TMZ reports that Jane and Lara are on “civilized terms,” which is all you can hope for. Since they’re lesbians, they’ll likely remain friends.

Linda Perry has been named Art of Elysium’s 2014 Visionary, which means she has to plan the whole shebang. The songwriter told MSN:

“I was completely in shock. I was so confused because it just seemed bigger than me. I’m nobody! I don’t understand why they would choose me. They obviously think I’m a visionary, so I’m going to give them a show they’re not going to forget. I’m going to put all of myself into this!”
Linda always puts on a hot women’s party for the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center each year, so she’s being modest. And so far the line-up looks good: “Linda, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Steven Tyler, Gingger Shankar, Micah Sheiner, and the Smokin’ Nights, are all set to perform just one song each at the grand gala.” It’s all happening January 11.

Marlene King talked PLL and Ravenswood with Variety.

Speaking of PLL, costume designer Mandi Line has created a line of Liars clothes with Aeropostale. Here’s how you can get Emily’s look.

The Stir asks if you think Kristen Stewart is a lesbian. I love how bisexuality does not exist for anyone. Like clearly she’s had relationships with men, but she hangs out with some dykey looking girl and people put her in an entirely different category. Straight people are so binary. (I know, I know, what else is new?)

Moving on! A drag king and burlesque dancer got married and it was fabulous.
