Morning Brew – It’s “American Horror Story: Freak Show” time!

Brewbies, hi! Happy Thursday! Here’s some good news to kick off your morning: Showtime has renewed both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex for 12-episode third seasons! Now if there was only some sort of time-machine-crossover situation that would find Lizzy Caplan and Kate Moennig in bed together.

Speaking of which delightful erotic fan fiction, Brenna Twohy’s slam poem “Fantastic Breasts and Where To Find Them” is a perfect presentation on why we love to read about familiar characters getting their scissor on with each other.

FX has announced a drop date and released a creepy-ass teaser trailer for American Horror Story: Freak Show. The ’50s amusement park-themed season, which will feature Sarah Paulson as a set of conjoined twins, lands on October 8th. According to BuzzFeed, Ryan Murphy says it will feature “the most terrifying clown ever.” In a world where Will Schuester exists? I hardly think so.

P.S. Sarah Paulson landed on IndieWire’s list of 13 LGBT actors nominated for playing LGBT roles today.

Pretty Little Liars boss Marlene King counted down the show’s scariest moments for Cosmo. A lot of them involve Emily doing stuff just because a doll told her to do it. Also, if you haven’t yet seen the promo for next week’s #fAtalfinAle, here you go:

Cara Delevingne is set to star in All Summer Long, a big screen musical about The Beach Boys. Surely she’ll be playing a surfer girl.

A great long-read for today: Dazed explores how Guinevere Turner turned American Psycho into a “feminist statement.” It’s full of gems like this:

Writer/actor/director Guinevere Turner had the formidable task of taking one of the most controversial novels of all time — replete with grisly scenes including one of a rat entering a woman’s downstairs to eat out her insides (“I remember reading that and thinking, ‘Fuck you Bret Ellis, that’s never gonna get out of my vision!'”) — and distilling it into a quasi-thriller-satire which traded stock in laughter rather than blood-letting. “It’s just as well a woman directed American Psycho,” wrote Roger Ebert of Harron in his review of the film. “She’s transformed a novel about blood lust into a movie about men’s vanity.”
If you’re interested in meeting some of the best lesbian novelists in history, you’re in luck! Sarah Waters and Emily M. Danforth are teaming up to talk about her new book at Harvard’s book store on Thursday, Sept. 8. Tickets are only five bucks!

I hope your day is as beautiful as a two-headed Sarah Paulson!
