Morning Brew – Thursday, December 16: Beth Ditto goes solo, AJ Cook in character as a lesbian for “SVU”

Hi friends!

Beth Ditto has announced she’s recorded a 4-song solo EP, produced by Simian Mobile Disco. It will be released digitally and as a limited edition 12″ in January.

It was bound to happen sometime. I wonder how different it will be from Gossip‘s stuff — maybe just more electronically focused. I miss Hannah!

AJ Cook is Tweeting fans from the set of Law & Order: SVU, where she’s playing a lesbian character in the upcoming episode “Mask.” Here’s a TwitPic of what she’ll look like.

Nerve compiled their Top 20 Internet Lists of 2010 and at number five is Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber. However they are correct in their assessment when they write, “The rise to super-stardom of a 16-year-old boy with lesbianic bangs seems like a weak victory for gay women.” Yeah, that wasn’t our finest moment of the year.

Jamie Lauren and the rest of the cheftestants on Top Chef All Stars answered some questions over at Mostly they sound like this: “What have you been doing since you were last on reality TV?”

This Friday, Amber Heard‘s new film And Soon the Darkness will hit select theaters in Los Angeles. But you won’t have to wait long to see it if you don’t live in La La Land — it’ll be out on DVD on Dec. 28.

If you’re feeling charitable and love Emma Donoghue, consider bidding on a copy of Room that has notes marked by the author herself on the inside. How fun! It’s like reading it with her right next to you.

Is this Disney star Demi Lovato? Is this a scandalous lesbian pose? Jury’s still out from everyone who cares.
