Morning Brew – Monday, May 9: Freja Beha Erichsen kisses a girl for Chanel, a trailer for “Girl/Girl Scene” episode 5

Good morning!

Starting June 2 you can catch lesbian comedians Julie Goldman, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Renee Santos and Jackie Monahan on Showtime’s Pride Comedy Jam. The website promises “Graphic language” and “adult content” so I’m sure you’ll be pleased.

Out model Lola van Vorst shared this video of her friend Tiernan doing a screen test for Treat. In it, she shows off something NSFW that she shares with her “lesbian friend” (aka Lola). It’s funny but, I repeat, NSFW.

And while we’re on the topic of models, let’s watch this Chanel video in which Freja Beha Erichsen is topless/makes out with another model. (Also NSFW because of that whole nudity thing.)

Remember when I told you about that movie starring Koena Mitra as a bisexual woman, Story of Naomi? She wants to make it very clear it’s not a lesbian love story, telling The Hindu Times, “I don’t play a lesbian in this film even though for a really deadly script, I wouldn’t mind romancing another woman just like I wouldn’t mind grooving to a really great item number. If you look at the poster closely, you will see that there are two others actors, a guy and a girl, along with Sorbo and me. Either of them could be the third angle in the love triangle.”

Well if you’re not doing it with this girl, I don’t know why you are touching her like that in the poster. False advertising!

Ashley Dupre should not be giving relationship advice, yet The New York Post allows her to. She recently gave a 39-year-old woman with fantasies about sexual experiences about women this advice:

I totally think you should experiment and get this out of your system while you still can. … If you’re serious about giving it a try, you might want to do so with someone who knows what she’s doing. I mean, you wouldn’t buy a pair of Louboutins from a secondhand store if you’re worried about whether they’re real or fake, would you? No, you’d want the crisp, fresh, red-sole pair straight out of the box because they’re a sure thing.

AKA go to a lesbian bar, find a “real lesbian” and subject her to your experimentation. I am hoping no one takes this “Ask Ashley” seriously, especially not this woman who wrote in! (BTW, Ashley, “while you still can” makes it sound like there’s an expiration date on bisexuality or lesbianism. If that’s the case, can you give me another shoe analogy so I understand?)

Vicci Martinez rooms with tattooed blonde Emily Valentine while they are both contestants on The Voice and they recorded a video blog of life in their hotel room.

Laura Goode is the author of Sister Mischief, an upcoming lesbian-themed young adult book we told you about not too long ago. She recently penned a piece on why she won’t be writing a vampire book of her own anytime soon. (It has a lot to do with the female representation in the Twilight series.)

Speaking of vampires….

Of course True Blood would start during my Pride weekend. That’s a good excuse to get me home off the streets of Chicago.

By now Jessie J is probably really tired of people asking her about her bisexuality. But she’s nice enough to answer reporters who keep quizzing her on it. In a profile from The Telegraph, she said:

I think it’s harder for boys [to be bisexual]. I think if a girl’s bi there’s more acceptance because guys like it. Whereas boys get more stereotyped. And girls are a bit like, “Oooh, my boyfriend’s bisexual.” But it is what it is. That’s the message I want my album to bring — to just be true to yourself.

Also, she talks about how she wanted to be Sporty Spice which is, like, the ultimate way to know you’re a little bit gay.

If you’re still in a Mother’s Day-type mood, I suggest reading this piece in The Root from author Tina Fakhrid-Deen. It’s about growing up with a down-and-out lesbian mom and how both women helped each other to become successful and happy in life.

Check out the new trailer for Girl/Girl Scene‘s upcoming fifth episode.

May 30, be here now. Thanks!

Heather Hogan shared some Corrie scoop with me that I’m passing on to you all. First, here’s a still from an upcoming episode, and some spoilers if you dare.

Also, it looks like the show is getting another lesbian character. Former Emmerdale star Catherine Tyldesley is reportedly playing “Eva, he daughter of Michelle Collins‘ character Stella.” What will it mean for Sophie/Sian? I smell trouble.

Kasia Borek and Lucy Scherer from Hand Aufs Herz are so psyched that you love Jemma. The German actresses were participating in a huge fan celebration in Germany, where AE reader amidola sent us this video and photos from the event.

Amidola said there was a new episode premiered at the event, but not before there was a Jemma timeline video shown set to their songs together and showing a lot of great clips with the two of them and the progression of their relationship. Very cool! Sounds like we’ll have a lot more recaps of HAF coming up.
