Morning Brew – Thursday, Sept. 8: Deb could be kissing a girl on “Dexter,” NBC develops “My Best Friend is a Lesbo”

Morning! I went to see The Lady Killer Tour last night and Hunter Valentine killed it. Visit ladykillertour.com to see when three fierce bands are headed your way.

You have to give NBC some credit – they are really trying to make a lesbian character happen. After I Hate That I Love You failed to get picked up, the network is developing a new show called My Best Friend is a Lesbo. (I wish I were kidding about the name.) Out writer Randi Barnes and BFF Sascha Rothchild are behind the series, along with Gossip Girl/The O.C. exec producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. We’ll have more info for you on this shortly!

The legendary Lily Tomlin is the narrator of a new anti-bullying documentary, Teach Your Children Well. The film is from Kat Kramer and will premiere in LA on Oct. 16.

Some of you have let us know when your school or work doesn’t allow you to go to AfterEllen.com, based on its restricted content. (AKA the word “lesbian” appears.) The ACLU is now fighting that for you. Thank you ACLU!

A reader pointed this tidbit out to me and I need to get your opinion. In the new season of Dexter, Angel Batista’s sister, Jamie, arrives, and she works as Harrison’s nanny. In this new promo video, she is goes into Deb’s room where she says, “I came in for a goodnight kiss, not to look at dead bodies.” A goodnight kiss? What could it all mean?! (Nothing or everything!?) Start at about two minutes in. (Thanks for the tip, blogaddict559!)

Actor Stellan SkarsgÄrd stars in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and he said of Rooney Mara in the new American film:

Obviously, [director David] Fincher wanted to go with someone even younger than the Swedish version. He wanted someone more vulnerable, more androgynous and I think it pays off.

Glad to hear it! I mean, I like androgynous.

Poor Evan Rachel Wood was elbowed in the face while dancing at a club and lost a tooth! I hope it wasn’t her fang.
