Morning Brew – Tuesday, Sept. 27: Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey kicked off Southwest for kissing, Ellen has a heart scare

Hi guys!

So you might have heard that bandmates/girlfriends Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey were booted off a Southwest Airlines flight yesterday. Leisha went on Twitter to give the details.

Southwest released a statement explaining that other customers complained about their “excessive” behavior, and that their crew took action based on “behavior and not gender,” which makes it sound like the two were having an all-out grope fest. The women are preparing a statement of her own to be released today, so we’ll keep you posted.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is on the cover of Empire magazine and here’s what director David Fincher told the mag about their version of Lisbeth Salander.

There were discussions early on where people were like, “She’s a superhero!” And you go, “No, she’s not.” Superheroes live in a world of good and evil, and she’s far more complex than a superhero. She’s been compromised. She’s been subjugated. She’s been marginalized. She’s been swept into the gutter and she’s had a part in it. She dresses like trash because she’s someone who has been betrayed and hurt so badly, by forces beyond her control, that she’s just decided to be refuse. She can sit anywhere she wants on the bus, because nobody wants to deal with her.

Aw, I would want to hang out with her! Lisbeth, call me.

Coronation Street‘s Brooke Vincent told BANG! Showbiz she is finding her new storyline difficult. She is not liking that she has to cheat on Sian!

It’s different to anything I’ve ever been used to and it’s made me actually have to act for the first time. I think a lot of my own personality has come in to my character for the past eight years and now I’m actually having to really act differently. It’s interesting though, and it keeps things fresh.

Also, she said kissing a girl ain’t no thang. (Duh.)

Kissing a girl is like kissing a boy. You just close your eyes and hope for the best. It’s somebody new that you have to get to know, it’s exciting. Hopefully everything will be OK.

Look who else is acting? Oprah! With Rosie. They are meditating together, but Rosie keeps Tweeting.

Ellen DeGeneres had a bit of a scare at her offices yesterday when she felt some tightness in her chest. She called paramedics, and TMZ reported on it straight away. On her show, Ellen then thanked the gossip site for caring, and said she is OK.

Cat jokes! Strippers! God, I love being a lesbian.

Sarah Paulson has joined the all-star cast of Mud, a new film about “two 14-year-old boys who encounter a mysterious fugitive hiding out on an island in the Mississippi.” I don’t think Sarah is playing one of the two boys, but you never know.

Oh goodness – Ilene Chaiken is developing a new TV show for NBC about “a lesbian couple who are doctors at an inner-city Philadelphia hospital.” Deadline reports that Ilene also sold a show to NBC last week, which is described as “A character-driven procedural she is writing and executive producing with Joel Silver.” Really? Another hospital show? I mean, we love our lesbian doctors and all, but I could do with another profession. Maybe something less time-consuming.

Want some religion with your music? Jennifer Knapp is kicking off her new tour, Inside Out Faith, and it’s hitting up churches as well as the typical music venues. I hope she covers George Michael‘s “Faith.”

I’m not even kidding that Spencer is wearing the costume I am strongly considering for Halloween. I’ve always wanted to be the Queen of Hearts!

Today in Lesbianish TV: The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Talk (CBS 2 p.m.), Glee (Fox 8 p.m.), Disaster DIY (DIY 8 p.m.) and The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC 9 p.m.) (Thanks Roni!)
