Morning Brew – Thurs. May 3: Mariska Hargitay and Kelli Giddish pretend to be lovers on “SVU,” Molly Ringwald goes gay on “Secret Life”

Good morning!

Heather Morris told E! that she and Naya Rivera always kiss on set. “Me and Naya always have to kiss at every moment! Which is fine, because we just think it’s cute,” she says at the one minute mark. Um, we would, too, if it were ever on camera.

Jane Lynch revealed that Sue Sylvester will not be graduating. Also she will miss Dianna Agron — does this mean Dianna’s leaving the show?

Coronation Street doesn’t want Hollyoaks to think it can be the only soap with multiple lesbian storylines, so they are creating a fake lesbian story for themselves. The character of Tracy Barlow is going to claim to be gay to stop her husband from selling their house. Apparently this will happen by pretending to be “very cosy” with her “girlfriend, Beth,”whenever anyone comes to see it. They also make the house smell like something called “kippers.” TV shows always have wild reasons as to why someone would pretend to be a lesbian.

Speaking of! Last night’s SVU had Kelli Giddish and Mariska Hargitay pretending to be lovers. Now this I can get down with.

Giddish told HuffPost TV:

We went out to set and Mariska’s like, “Hi. Let’s go be lovers for a second.” We were like, “When should we have the hand touch? When does the hand touch happen?”

Kelli, the hand touch happens all the time, OK???

Rumor has it Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan were spotted making out at a New York club. I support this!

The Secret Life of the American Teenager is going to have another lesbian mom and she’s played by none other than Molly Ringwald! Ringwald’s Anne is now single and going after a new woman named Willowdine. (Of course that’s her name.)

The Los Angeles Review of Books asks why so many lesbian coming-of-age stories end in tragedy. Considering they only mention a handful of novels, I think it’s because they chose to read all the ones with tragic endings. I also think some of the best novels end tragically, not tied up in perfect little pink bows. But, nonetheless, there are those that end happily!
