There were two lesbian weddings in New York over the weekend. Politician Christine Quinn and Kim Catullo was one, and Jennifer Vanasco and Jenny Hagel was the other! Jay used to be the editor of 365gay.com and you might recognize Jenny from her Feminist Rapper videos or the lesbian short Tech Support. Watch this New York Times Vows video on how they met. It’s pretty adorable.
This is just weird. Indian photographer Shaan has staged a “lesbian photoshoot” in support of lesbian love.

Gossip’s new album A Joyful Noise comes out today and frontwoman Beth Ditto said she thinks the dance-pop LP is just as political as the band’s other records, it’s just more subtle.
…the idea of queer love-that’s very political. And having a break-up. Also the images from the record are very political. There’s a bible verse as the title of the album; Medusa’s disembodied head and hand on the front. To me, it’s political and funny. It has a sense of humor about it. I just think it’s deeper and not as overt this time.
Also overt is Beth’s love for fiance Kristin Ogata on the red carpet at Cannes this week. Aw.
Director Philippe Mora is working on a film about an imagined ménage a trois relationship between Salvador Dalí, his wife Gala and Mona Lisa. The Surrealist will star Alan Cumming as the famed artist and Judy Davis as Gala. Mona Lisa is still being cast but Deadline says that “since some believe Mona was actually a man, Mora is toying with the idea of casting an actress to play a bloke impersonating a woman, a la Victor/Victoria, or an actor playing a woman.” Well that would certainly be interesting. Can we pick the woman?
A friend of mine in London said she went and saw She Monkeys, which just hit theaters in the UK and is sort of like Black Swan. The Sapphic-tinged film debuted at Tribeca last year. Since a pool is so heavily involved, it’s kind of reminding me of Water Lilies. This review makes it sound pretty good, but my friend was not so into it! (Thanks Jules!)
Chloe Sevingy’s Hit and Miss, in which she plays a transwoman hitman (hitwoman?) will debut on DirecTV on July 11. Glad I already have the service!
What are the Glee cast doing on their summer vacation? Naya Rivera is recording her album, Heather Morris is headed to Mexico and Jane Lynch is going to the East Coast. She told TV Guide:
I’m going to Vermont for a month and doing jury duty in July. I’ve been pushing off my civic duty and now I have to do it. Hopefully it won’t take too long.
Can you imagine having Jane Lynch on your jury panel? I don’t know if I’d laugh or cry.
Molly Ringwald’s character is coming out as a lesbian on the upcoming season of The Secret life of the American Teenager and she seems prepared for critics. She tells Out:
They’ve dealt with gay characters, and they’ve dealt with gay characters kissing – they just haven’t dealt with Molly Ringwald being a lesbian. Seeing someone that they’ve grown up with, that they’ve identified with for so long – it’s a great way to break down that us-versus-them barrier a little more.
She also said she thinks John Hughes had gay characters in his films. I always wished Molly and Ally Sheedy would have dumped Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson for each other in The Breakfast Club.
