Afternoon Delight: Drama on the set of “Liz & Dick,” GLAAD encourages support for LGBT ally Carrie Underwood

Good afternoon and happy Flag Day!

Happy birthday to Lucy Hale, Diablo Cody, Ghostella’s Haunted Tomb director Stacie Ponder and my Pa!

There is some serious drama-rama over at the Lifetime Liz & Dick set. The film’s executive producer Larry A. Thompson dished on working with out actress Lindsay Lohan during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

Two years ago Sizzler patron Liza Friedlander was viciously attacked by the restaurant’s staff at their Queens, New York location for being gay. Good news, a New York judge has awarded Friedlander $25,000, citing the restaurant violated state law by allowing her to be discriminated against.

Friedlander said, “I was attacked and threatened by people yelling terrible anti-LGBT slurs, throwing things at me and threatening to sexually assault me. On that day, I felt helpless, humiliated and frightened, but today I’m so proud that I stood up and did something about it. No one should have to go through a nightmare like that.” After Friedlander’s victory, the staff attorney for Lambda Legal, Natalie Chin, who repped Friedlander issued a statement saying, “Businesses are not exempt from treating LGBT people with dignity and respect.”

Singer Carrie Underwood recently announced her support for marriage equality and, as a result, was treated to a slew of anti-gay tweets. Today GLAAD launched a #SupportCarrie campaign on Twitter. GLAAD is asking that we all show our support by tweeting to Carrie (@carrieunderwood) using #supportcarrie.

On a lighter note, get ready for Ice Age 4: Continental Drift starring Queen Latifah, Heather Morris and Wanda Sykes.

Out actress Amber Heard gave the death stare while on the red carpet for Montblanc international gala in Beijing, China.

Ultra-conservative Michigan mayor Janice Daniels shared her whacked out opinion that the dangers of the “homosexual lifestyle” are akin to the dangers of smoking cigarettes. Really? I thought homosexuality caused happiness while cigarettes caused lung cancer.

Rumor has it The Avengers three-hour director’s cut might be heading to the big screen. Will you go see the director’s cut if it is released in theaters? With Scarlett Johansson on the bill, I have a feeling my wife will be dragging me to see this flick whether I want to or not.
