Morning Brew – Thurs. June 28: Ask Megan Rapinoe anything today, an award-winning lesbian photography series

Morning!

Have some questions for Megan Rapinoe? She’ll be answering them today at NBC’s Google+ page and NBCOlympics.com. She’s livestreaming at 11:30 ET and you can submit your questions by using #askmegan on Twitter. See you there!

The Star-Observer‘s resident lesbian writer Monique Schafter has penned an “Ode to Ruby Rose.” My favorite line: “I told my mum about you and how close we have become / When you responded to my tweet that time I knew you were the one.”

Artist Tania Olive won the British Journal of Photography’s Best in Show Award for her series Dyke of our Time. She told Artlyst:

I’ve always found the butch and femme labels with which lesbians are associated to be antiquated. In fact, I find the idea that gender is a distinct dichotomy unrealistic. I wanted to show the fluidity of gender in the lesbian community.

Here are some shots from her winning series.

A vigil was held in San Francisco for shooting victims Mollie Olgin and Mary Chapa. There don’t seem to be many updates in the case thusfar.

Heather Peace and her fiancee will not be getting married in a Catholic church. She told Scotland’s Daily Record:

I was brought up a Catholic, and in all honesty, on the happiest day of my life, if you really think I would set foot in any building that would rather I wasn’t there, then you’re having a laugh.

Well be sure to let us know where will be getting married, Heather. In fact, feel free to send me an invite.

Jane Lynch will emcee Roseanne Barr’s roast on Comedy Central, which happens August 12. I wonder if Sara Gilbert will join the festivities! She’ll have to channel her inner-Darlene.
