I feel like I’ve been away forever and missed so many lesbian things. I mean, in one week, Rosie had a heart attack and got married. That’s how long I’ve been gone.

Tipping the Velvet actress Rachel Stirling said she found it hard to be taken seriously as an actress after she took part in the lesbian film.

It was a brilliant project and I don’t regret it, but there wasn’t a lot of aftercare and the long-term effects weren’t considered. Nobody sat down and said that you might find it hard to be taken seriously as an actor afterwards. So when the producer of Tipping The Velvet said, “We chose you because we knew you’d swing naked from the nearest chandelier,” I should have realised he wasn’t offering me the role because I was deeply important and talented.

Well that’s bollocks, Rachel. I’m sure many other women were up for the challenge of swinging nude from chandeliers.
