Morning Brew – Mon. Oct. 22: Fergie tells Oprah she’s never dated women, Sue Perkins gets a sitcom

Good morning! I’m a little tired from staying out to see Hunter Valentine play last night in Portland. They sounded so good, guys. I love the addition of Aimee Bessada. She is a great guitar player.

Last night on Oprah’s Next Chapter, Fergie opened up to Oprah about everything, including her past relationships with women.

I never dated women. It was more fun. I think that a lot of women experience this sort of thing in college. Tour was like college in a way. I mean I guess I would call it bisexual or sexually open, free spirit… what have you.

Interesting. Sometimes I wonder what people consider “dating” these days.

Sophie will be getting a new girlfriend on Coronation Street soon! Brooke Vincent told The Daily Star:

I can’t reveal whether her relationship will be with a new character or an existing member of the street, but it will be with another girl. There aren’t actually many lesbians on telly, and Sophie and Sian were so young. But we made sure we didn’t change our appearances or start acting any differently to meet the stereotype.

My UK crush Sue Perkins is working on her own show called Heading Out. The premise sounds amazing already: Sue will play a lesbian vet whose friends say she should come out to her parents before her 40th birthday. From Metro:

I think the gnawing terror, sleepless nights and relentless self-doubt has subsided, this might well be the thing that I’m most proud of. It’s been a joy to work on, and I hope that joy proves to be infectious.

I’m ready to be infected by joy!

ABC ordered more episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. Rest assured!

Mortal Instruments writer Cassandra Clare gave a great interview over at RaceBending.com where she discussed keeping the gay characters in the film adaptation that Marlene King adapted. If only there were lesbians! Well you can’t win them all.

Clare Balding goes a little glam for this month’s Diva magazine.

If you’re in New York, get thee to the library! “Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen” is on view at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. See her legendary lesbianish pants in person.

Charlie is the out member of MK1, a group competing on the UK version of X-Factor. She recently confirmed she’s bisexual. Then she sang Crystal Waters, which is super gay.

Would you go to a convention for Faberry shipping? Then it’s your lucky day! Thanks for the tip, Lindsey.

Portia de Rossi is on her wife’s show tomorrow! You can get a brief glimpse of her in this preview. (Thanks Roni!)

Speaking of Ellen, she’ll be receiving the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in a ceremony tonight. We’ll be able to watch it on TV on PBS October 30.
