A “Pitch Perfect” reunion, Jennifer Lawrence “Catching Fire” and catfishing Anna Kendrick at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards are this Sunday, and while this movie season has been a little light on the lesbian side, there are still a lot of reasons to tune in. Here are just a few.

With a Rebel yell!

The fierce and fabulous Rebel Wilson is hosting this year’s awards and we couldn’t be happier. The scene stealing actress is breaking down barriers in Hollywood, and it’s about damn time. Rebel is also nominated for Breakthrough Performance for her performance as Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect. By the way, did you know Rebel has a law degree? Brains and beauty, I do not object.

May I Present

This year, the MTV Movie Award presenters include some of our favorite talented beauties, Amanda Seyfried, Kerri Washington, Melissa McCarthy, Zoe Saldana and Brad Pitt.

Pre-Show Antics

MTV always rocks it in the pre-show featurettes department, and this year will be no exception. Joe Manganiello, Anna Kendrick and Mark Wahlberg join forces in a play on MTV’s popular series Catfish, about online relationships that may not be all they are cracked up to be. So wait, that lesbian brain surgeon/house flipper/model I met on OKCupid a few years ago, may not have been telling the truth?

Emma Watson’s Blazing Trails

Emma Watson will be receiving MTV’s Trailblazer Award for her continually diverse and exceptional work in the field of acting. Emma has been dazzling us with her talent since she was just a wee one, and I’m sure for many years to come. She will be appearing as herself in the new apocalyptic themed movie, This Is The End. Now you know that when the going gets tough, Hermoine might just steal all your shit.

Gimme Macklemore

Admit it, you have musical guests Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘s “Thrift Shop” stuck in your head. That’s not why Macklemore is one of our favorite fellas though. It’s because he’s a huge ally to the LGBT community, and his song “Same Love” is changing hearts and minds around the world.

Right on Pitch

Speaking of Pitch Perfect, the cast of the hit movie will be performing at the awards. Rebel Wilson and the rest of The Bellas and Treblemakers will all be there to perform for the first time in front of a live audience. Gosh, I really hope Aubrey (Anna Camp) doesn’t puke this time. The cherry on top of this sundae? We also get to gaze upon lesbian subtext superstars Brittany Snow and Anna Kendrick. I just hit a high C from sheer excitement.

Catch a Glipse

One of the best things about the MTV Movie Awards is they give us a sneak peek of some of the most anticipated, upcoming films. This year it’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, starring everyone’s favorite Oscar winner, Jennifer Lawrence. Take that Finnick! All you have is a dumb old trident. Now if only JLaw would play a lesbian character one of these days, I’d volunteer as tribute.
