Women’s Voices Now, a 501c3 Non-Profit, has announced they are accepting submissions for their 5th Annual Film Festival. The organization encourages women filmmakers to submit their films by and about women by February 5th via FilmFreeway.com.
“We are leading by example that films and activism work together to inspire people to be and create the change they want to see in themselves and in their communities,” says Women’s Voices Now Executive Director, Heidi Basch-Harod. Using the medium of film, Women’s Voices Now focuses their efforts on fostering awareness of women’s rights issues, while providing resources for filmmakers and clear ways that audiences can join the cause.
Filmmakers around the world will have the chance to win 10k in prizes, but will also have the opportunity to be a part of Women’s Voices Now film archive; an international distribution platform designed to build the conversation on women’s rights issues around the world. Through multi-lingual access to the online festival, Women’s Voices Now is the only U.S. organization implementing the digital film festival model of women’s rights activism on a global scale.
“We see women of all colors and walks of life protecting themselves and their communities from the adverse economic, social, cultural, and political challenges humankind faces in the 21st century. Witnessing these stories through the medium of film creates solidarity toward the common goals of women’s rights,” continues Basch-Harod.
Categories for the festival include Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Narrative Short, and Experimental. Lesbian-themed films are welcome!
Filmmakers and activists can submit their films by or about women on FilmFreeway by the festival’s Regular Deadline on February 5th, or by the Late Deadline on February 15th. Official selections of the online festival will be notified on February 26th.
