People magazine has an interview with Carol Rosenfeld and Brandy Snow of The Amazing Race, in which they say they hope they don’t come off looking like “mean lesbians.” Brandy said:
It’s been an emotional roller coaster watching it and being labeled. This is my national coming out party. My friends and family knew I’d been in same-sex relationships, but in general people didn’t know. I partially did it because we were only the second lesbian couple on the race. I wanted to raise awareness and be positive.
And, unfortunately, it looks like the two have split up.
Carol: Getting ready for the race hijacked the honeymoon part of our relationship … Our relationship was more disposable because of its newness. I cannot recommend this for new couples.Brandy: It took a toll. We’re living in different cities and focusing on being friends right now.
Reality shows = the death of relationships. Here’s hoping Carol and Brandy can have a second honeymoon, off-camera.

The New York Press profiled some of NYC’s influential lesbians, which they dub “the muffia.” The list includes Holly Miranda, DJ Lauren Flax, artist Shantell Martin, restaurateur Rebecca Collerton , actor Jess Barbagallo and party promoter Ellie Conant. It’s worth a read, as they all discuss the lesbian scene in NY, their own backgrounds and finding other lesbians for friendship and otherwise in the big apple.

The Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will be honoring Sharon Gless with the Career Achievement Award at the Florida premiere of her film Hannah Free on April 24. If you’re in town, you can attend the ceremony at Regal Cinemas South Beach.
