Her Royal Highness and Gloria Estefan will act as mentors and travel to contestants’ hometowns, pluck them from obscurity and transport them to Hollywood to compete against other hopefuls with dreams that will soon be squashed. It sounds like a musical version of The Hunger Games, minus all the death.

Michelle “Mitchie Likes Sausage” Rodriquez, Margaret Cho, Wanda Sykes and Barbara Walters are looking for their ancestry on the PBS series Finding Your Roots. The 10-part series “examines the histories and family genealogies of a number of well-known personalities” hosted by Harvard scholar and cultural critic Henry Louis Gates Jr. The series will premiere at 8 p.m. on March 25. (I wonder who else in Rodriquez’s lineage liked sausage.)
