Morning Brew – Monday, March 19: Jessica Clark covers “Vogue India,” Alyson Hannigan’s lesbian band camp experience

Good morning!

Jessica Clark looks stunning on the cover (and insides) of Vogue India this month. A lesbian on the cover of Vogue — imagine that!

Out Senator Tammy Baldwin is in The New York Times Magazine this week, answering questions about when she knew she was gay (“It became very clear to me in college”) and her thoughts on President Obama’s views of gay rights.

Look, he is moving in the right direction on this issue. He’s been crucial in equality efforts like the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and signing the Matthew Shepard hate crimes prevention act. I have no idea what goes on in another person’s mind. As a legislator, I need to be good at persuading people, counting votes and getting to 50 percent plus one. I don’t go back and say, “Why did this person get to the right position?” It’s only “Are you yes or are you no?”

Was there a lesbian film that changed your life? The New York Times asked some famous people in the LGBT community about the ones that changed theirs, including playwright Paula Vogel and Lea DeLaria. Their picks? The Hunger and Go Fish, respectively.

Anna Anthropy is the creator of Lesbian Spider-Queens of Mars, and now she’s releasing a book. Rise of the Videogame Zinesters: How Freaks, Normals, Amauers, Artists, Dreamers, Drop-Outs, Queers, Housewives, and People Like You Are Taking Back an Art Form has a long title, but it sounds pretty freaking awesome. She talked with Publisher’s Weekly about the book.

Michelle Tea interviewed fellow author Dorothy Allison for her website. It’s all about her zodiac sign, her favorite state and what books she’s going to bring with her on the upcoming Sister Spit Tour.

Patricia Cornwell’s Hornet’s Nest is coming to TNT at the end of this month, or so she tweeted.

Patricia has a cameo in the made-for-TV film, adapted from her novel of the same name.

Beth Ditto is collaborating with MAC Cosmetics for a line of make-up that will hit the shelves in June. Can’t wait to see what she’s inspired.

The U.S. version of Mistresses is shaping up quite nicely. Three women have been cast in the lead roles, including Yunjin Kim as Karen, Rochelle Aytes as April and Jes Macallan as Josslyn. Since the names aren’t the same as the original UK show, it’s hard to say which one (if any) are like Shelley Conn’s sexually adventurous Jessica, but Josslyn is described as “a real estate broker and unapologetically sensual woman.” So there’s that!

Vicci Martinez was interviewed on the red carpet of a charity event where she discussed her new album and working with Cee-Lo Green.

One time at band camp, Alyson Hannigan had a lesbian experience.

I don’t know if that’s enough to get me to see American Reunion. Maybe that coupled with nostalgic value is, though.

Holland Taylor’s Evelyn meets Georgia Engel (who plays Lyndsey’s mom) tonight on Two and a Half Men, and they seem to hit it off, as we knew they would.

The Shondes have a new music video for “Give Me What You’ve Got.” Watch it and then find out when they’re coming to your town on tour. On March 26, they’re opening for Uh Huh Her in Gainesville, Florida.
