Lesbian power couple to become a big part of “Vogue”

Anna Wintour is probably the most famous editor in chief in the world of women’s magazines. She’s been at the helm of fashion bible Vogue for decades, and has even been immortalized as a villainous boss from hell in The Devil Wears Prada. It’s no wonder that the rumor mills are constantly abuzz with her departure.

When I read on Jezebel this morning that lesbian couple Ingrid Sischy and Sandra Brant would become Vogue editors, I thought it was too good to be true. And it is — sort of. The couple, who used to be the team behind Interview Magazine, which Ingrid edited after she befriended the magazine’s creator, Andy Warhol, are taking over as international editors at the German and Russian editions of Vogue. They currently serve in the same positions for the Italian and Spanish versions.

OK, so what else is left? Move over, Ms. Wintour.

A lesbian couple being part of a powerful fashion magazine published by Condé Nast is pretty exciting. Not only does it make them one hell of a power couple, but it also shows that we’re on top of our game — business, fashion, otherwise.

So while Anna Wintour is still running the world the American Vogue, it’s possible that some gay women will have some involvement in the future. I might even start to buy the issues again if that happens, instead of stealing them from my gym.
