Cheney baby’s approval rating climbs
President Bush has stated that he’s happy for Mary Cheney and thinks she’ll be a “loving soul” to her child. The New York Times article goes on to say that “a number of conservative groups have expressed dismay at Cheney’s pregnancy.” So much for that whole “culture of life” thing. Here’s a particularly choice comment, courtesy of CNN.com:
Carrie Gordon Earll, a policy analyst for the conservative Christian ministry Focus on the Family, expressed empathy for the Cheney family but depicted the pregnancy as unwise. “Just because you can conceive a child outside a one-woman, one-man marriage doesn’t mean it’s a good idea,” Earll said. “Love can’t replace a mother and a father.”
Somebody should have told the original Mary that. I mean, the whole virgin birth concept was kinda outside the one-woman one-man lines, don’tcha think?
