“I’ll have a Saving Face, please”: Lesbian movie cocktails
Cocktails and nightclub website SloshSpot.com has compiled a list of the best drinks and cocktails named after movies.
Here are a few examples from their list:
Star Wars
1 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur
1 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 oz sweet and sour mix
1 oz Sprite® soda
Mix all ingredients, and serve in an old-fashioned glass with ice.
Sideways
1-2 inch Vanilla Vodka
Limeade to taste
Fill glass with ice, add vanilla vodka, fill glass with limeade and add a wedge of lime and/or sprig of mint for a little color, stir gently & enjoy!
I’m sure you’re as shocked as I am that almost all the drinks they list are named after movies about men. The lone exception is Eyes Wide Shut, which co-stars Nicole Kidman, and the drink of the same name is summarized as “basically mix a bunch of s–t you normally don’t drink into one, and consume.”
Reading through their list, I wondered, who actually goes into a bar and asks for a “Wayne’s World?” Then I wondered — what if we created cocktails named after lesbian movies?
With Lori’s help (since I don’t really drink), I came up with a few ideas.
