Music Video Premiere: Katey Brooks Debuts “All of Me”

UK singer-songwriter Katey Brooks just released her new single “All of Me” and AfterEllen is honored to premiere the music video (see below) that we can’t stop watching. We will definitely be keeping this rising star on our radar. We asked the out lesbian songstress about her inspiration for All of Me, a soulful tune that can’t be pigeonholed into any particular style, but has elements of soul, folk, and blues. “At the time of writing All of Me, the song almost felt like a request. An ex and I were trying to work towards rebuilding our relationship to have a future together, and yet her behaviour became increasingly incongruent. So I wrote All of Me. When it came to making the video I kept seeing myself doing a waltz with someone, despite having no experience whatsoever (and you can tell!). But it just felt right – perhaps because the push and pull in relationships, and learning to love and let go, can feel like a dance at times.”

Brooks has found success recording with the likes of Brian May (Queen), Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones) and Paloma Faith at Abbey Road, for BBC Radio 2’s Children in Need single. She has played some of the world’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury, WOMAD, the 2012 Paralympics, and Australia’s National Folk Festival. Katey Brooks continues to deliver exceptional musicianship, with ‘In Your Arms’ currently available worldwide.
