We are a nation adrift being ripped apart by a soulless leader, a man of no moral compass and no accountability to anyone. We are exactly where Putin wants us: afraid, confused, divided, rudderless and, in any meaningful way, leaderless.
The man in the Oval Office incompetent and dangerous. The rule of law is fast becoming a quaint notion found in an increasingly meaningless document called the Constitution. We have lost the Supreme Court and can no longer count on the protection of the rule of law. The rule of law has become partisan and we are only at the beginning of this desolate road.
The Democrats must be returned to power with a victory in the midterms.
The House of Representative, the people’s house – as the Framers called it because it was the only body directly elected by the people – must be returned to the majority of the people. The Senate cannot be written off as lost. The Democrats must stand up to the President and the Republican Party. They must be called out for what they are, and Democrats must unite with purpose. As Joe Biden recently said, “take back your country.”
Vote and take back your country now before it truly becomes too late.

We have watched a con man with a minority of Americans in his grip and the help of a hostile foreign power steal a presidential election, destroy a major political party that was ripe for his picking, reshape the Supreme Court with a stolen appointment and a man not fit to serve, and attack any group that he perceives as weak and fodder for his loyal base.
His base, comprised mainly of white males without college educations, stoked by his lies, blinded by the fear his lies create, welcome his brutish vision of America and the world believing he will keep them safe from those not like them.

The life of a man residing in the United States who was a columnist for the Washington Post is worth little to our president in his transactional world that operates only to his benefit. I’ve been reading quite a few books about The Rolling Stones at Altamont. Those of you of a certain age need only read the word to know what I’m talking about. For those a bit younger, Altamont was a free concert The Rolling Stones headlined on December 6, 1969 at the Altamont Speedway in California.
It is considered by many to be the death of the hopes and dreams of the 1960’s. The Hell’s Angeles provided the concert security and the result was the death of a young black man, Meredith Hunter, along with the severe beating of many concert-goers. All these years later fingers of blame still point in all directions and books are written on the attacks. One such book, “Just A Shot Away” by Saul Austerlitz (Thomas Dunne Books, St. Martin’s Press, 2018) makes the point that a hardened focused minority bordering on fascism was able to defeat a well-meaning majority lacking cohesion that day on a battlefield known as Altamont. If that sounds familiar with meaning and foreboding today, it should.
