A former Starbucks manager in New York City is suing the mega-coffee chain for unlawful discrimination, harassment and for being “wrongfully accused of being gay.” Alicia Brooks was arrested for allegedly assaulting a female coworker and then asked to sign a document stating that the two had an “improper” relationship, alluding that the women were in a lesbian relationship. Starbucks has a long history of promoting equality, inclusion and diversity both in our workplace and in the communities we serve, and we have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination or harassment of any kind.
