We’re ready for that inter-species, crime-fighting lesbian lovers spin-off, “Doctor Who!”

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat had no idea what he was getting into when he introduced the time-traveling, crime-fighting, inter-species lesbian couple Madame Vastra and Jenny to the his Whovians two years ago. To say they are well-liked would be one of the greatest understatements of the space-time continuum. Madame Vastra and Jenny are adored. They re-appeared in this year’s Christmas special, but even that didn’t satiate fans, many of whom are calling for a spin-off at BBC’s earliest possible convenience. It seems the Beeb knows they’ve got some gold on their hands because they’ve now released two episodes featuring Vastra, Jenny, and their buddy Strax.

The first, of course, was a pre-“The Snowmen” special:

And the second, which apparently landed online yesterday and takes place between “A Good Man Goes to War” and “Let’s Kill Hitler.” In it, we learn that Jenny’s family booted her for being a lesbian, and also that Strax is super-confused by her gender-bending awesomeness.

Can you think of a better trio for a Doctor Who spin-off? Yeah, me neither.
