Afternoon Delight: Sandra Oh leaving “Grey’s Anatomy”

Good afternoon everyone!

Happy birthday to Debi Mazar! In the worst news ever, I am sad to report that Sandra Oh will depart Grey’s Anatomy in 2014.

In a statement, the actress said of her experience on the show:

It’s been a great privilege to play the character of Cristina Yang on GA and I am both sad and excited to see where this, her final season will take her. It was an emotional and deeply creative decision for me and I feel fully supported by Shonda and the writers. It’s so rare in an actor’s life to be able to explore and grow a character so fully, so completely. I am profoundly grateful to everyone at GA for the opportunity.
I just hope that she and her “person,” Dr. Meredith Grey, will run away together in her final episode on the show.

E! has a teeny-tiny scoop on what’s in store for Grey’s Anatomy season 10. Hint: Lexi Grey.

Next Monday, Lady Gaga will premiere her new music video on Good Morning America.

Speaking of Gaga, in case you were wondering the mother monster is not feuding with fellow pop star Katy Perry.

The one and only Dame Judi Dench stars in the drama Philomena. This film is totally going to make me cry.

Janelle Monae looks really shocked to be on the cover of Bust. If you enjoy female-on-female collaborations then listen to Scandal‘s Kerry Washington as she sings a mini duet with former American Idol winner Jordan Sparks.

The second installment of the Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire, will premiere in London on November 11. Los Angeles is super pissed! And take a gander at the latest trailer for the epic film.

Christina Hendricks wants to guest star on Game of Thrones and I’m 100% supportive of this casting. (Especially if Hendricks has a love scene with Lena Headey.) Saorise Ronan plays a tough chick in the drama How I Live Now. The film is based on Meg Rosoff‘s novel of the same name and hits theaters in October.

Nene Leakes (The New Normal) will reprise her role as Coach Roz for the fifth season of Glee.

Vulture has a nifty slideshow of the new episodes of Girls currently being filmed for S3.

A gay sailor made headlines when he returned after six months at sea, disembarked from his ship and dropped to one knee to propose to his longtime partner. (His boyfriend said yes!)

Our gay brother George Takei is insistent that he is in fact launching his own cologne line. I don’t know, I think he’s pulling our legs. I’m lucky enough to be one of the 100.)

This Thursday, out comedian Fortune Feimster will appear on the Chelsea Lately roundtable.

Instagram of the Day!

Glee‘s Naya Rivera posted the below “hubba hubba” photo with the caption “Sneak peek this outfit for fashion police airing 8/30!#gams.” Rivera is one “talented” lady.
