If you watched American Horror Story: Coven last night, you might have enjoyed the scene where Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange sat at a New Orleans bar, drank liquor and asked each other to get honest. (I did!) Ryan Murphy said that is exactly how they hang in real life.
I have had many a night with Ms. Paulson and Ms. Lange and they’re always cracking each other up. The last take when Sarah turns to the bartender and says, “Keep ’em coming, Mr. Man,” Jessica, off camera, made this hilarious face and it made Sarah burst out laughing and that’s the take I used. They’ve been friends for a long time. They like having scenes together.Who wouldn’t want to take shots with Sarah and Jessica?There’s a really great chemistry and familiarity [with the cast] even though they’re all playing different characters, which for me is a very rewarding thing to see. That’s what I always wanted to do with the show, was create this troop of actors that has a great family bond.

It’s interesting how much people long to fill in the gaps when someone in the public eye doesn’t share their personal life. I understand their frustration. I like how people will post pictures of me with other women that I adore, hugging on red carpets, and say, “See?” Are we so uncomfortable with love between two people of the same gender that we immediately label it as sexual? But I’ve never been bothered by the lesbian rumor. There’s nothing offensive about it, so there’s no reason to be offended.I’ve had the great pleasure of interviewing Kerry before and she is a huge fan of lesbians and portraying them accurately on screen, like in She Hate Me.
