Morning Brew – “OITNB” star Jackie Cruz goes gay in “13 Steps”

Good morning!

Jackie Cruz plays Flaca on Orange is the New Black, but she’s also playing a lesbian character in the upcoming film 13 Steps from director Ivan Godoy. Jackie said of the film:

It’s a bilingual movie, about the cartel. It was so intense because there are certain things you cant say about them or they will hunt you down and murder you. So the script have to be made very carefully. The film’s about Mexican siblings who seek refuge in British Colombia. It was such an intense role to play. In the film I play one of the main characters who is a lesbian, opposite Raul Trujillo from Apocalypto. He is a great actor and I was so lucky to work with him. He’s taught me so much.

The film, 13 Steps, comes out this June.

Charice sings the theme song, “Right Where I Belong,” for The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale. It’s a children’s movie, so basically we’re turning your kids gay through song.

Out musician Soko talked with ABC about her participation in the “First Kiss” viral video.

“It felt like the longest kiss of my life, but I wanted to just kiss more. It was so pure. Afterwards we went to get breakfast and then we ended up just hanging out the next four days. We didn’t really take anything further romantically but we made a real connection and I feel like that’s one of the most beautiful things people can take away from this video.”

Sounds like the plot to a lesbian film.
