Morning Brew – Sara Gilbert on Jonah Hill’s homophobic slur

Good morning! Happy Hump Day!

Jonah Hill called a photographer a fag and then apologized for it. Sara Gilbert gave her opinion on the matter on The Talk.

Ariel Schrag‘s forthcoming novel Adam has a cool new trailer.

In this week’s Ask a Homo over at Slate, June Thomas answers questions about U-Hauling lesbians.

Maybe you feel the same way about Emily Valentine as this lesbian writer does. The 90210 character was played by Christine Elise McCarthy, who said she’s gotten positive feedback from fans over the years.

“I know that a disproportionate amount of people who come up to me and say, ‘Thank God for that character,’ are queer. So that’s conspicuous. I know it definitely had an impact in that community. I can also say that in real life, people always make that assumption about me. I am especially gratified to have played her because so many outsider and disenfranchised kids felt Emily Valentine put a face to their various forms of isolation – whether sexual orientation or economic or whatever.”

A sperm donor writes about the many euphemisms he’s heard while helping his lesbian friends have a baby. All the awkwardness!

Marlene King told The Hollywood Reporter that this season of Pretty Little Liars is “emotional.”

Meanwhile, Xfinity has a great interview with Shay Mitchell and TVFanatic with Sasha Pieterse and Tammin Sursok.

The women behind have a new book coming out that might be of interest to some of you or someone you know. Parents just don’t understand!

Ellen Page spoke with The L.A. Times about her upcoming role in the adaptation of Queen & Country.

“I’m extremely excited and grateful to have the opportunity to play that character. She is very successful at what she does in a world that is dominated by men but has her own vulnerabilities and difficulties and struggles. It’s just a very multilayered interesting young woman who I look forward to getting to play.”

The New York Times makes mention of The Dinah Shore’s L Word pool party in a piece about Palm Springs.

Hooray for the Riff Raff‘s new video for “I Know It’s Wrong (But It’s Alright)” is pretty freaking cool. I also love what lead singer Alynda Lee Segarra had to say about the inspiration:

“I feel so inspired by Janet Mock and Laverne Cox, really proud trans women of color. It’s been really inspiring for me to see that and then to do this as a queer Hispanic woman playing country music.”

Kelly McGillis speaks highly of working with Jodie Foster on The Accused.

“Working with Jodie was lovely. I really think she’s a wonderful person.”

Jodie’s hair though.

So far the feature film about Stonewall has a lot of white dudes in it.

Monifah spoke with BET for their Pride month series. (Apologies in advance for the autoplay on this video. You’ll have to manually pause or mute it if you find it annoying.)
