Morning Brew – Alison Bechdel puts lesbian sex in “The New Yorker”

Good morning!

This week’s #TBT is dedicated to new Orange is the New Black castmember Lori Petty. This is from her 2003 gay role in Prey for Rock and Roll with Gina Gershon.

This mash-up of Orange is the New Black and Arrested Development is everything.

As for Season 2 reviews of OITNB, it’s unanimous: The new episodes are amazing. (Read our review here.)

And here’s what the stars of the show looked like before their characters became household names.

Uzo Aduba looks stunning in this spread with Refinery 29.

Heather Peace talked about her new very gay album with The Skinny.

My own personal life is definitely less apparent in this album and more of my writing this time came from a place outside of my own self-indulgence! I think that’s because during the writing and the recording of The Thin Line, I was really happy in my own life and that wasn’t necessarily the case during the writing of a lot of Fairytales. Things that moved me this time were often other people’s stories and things they were going through. Or things on a wider spectrum such as the lyrics for “We Can Change” or “The Thin Line,” which deal with equal rights and the way we look at an international crisis on the news.”
She kind of looks like she’s rubbing her nipples in this photo.

It’s still not easy to be a lesbian in college women’s sports. Goalie Agata Dera writes about her experience.

Joan Rivers loves to have lesbians in her bed. This week it’s YouTube vlogger Hannah Hart.

Edie Windsor will appear on HuffPost Live today at 1:40 p.m PST. You can ask her questions now!

Tatiana Maslany joined Emmy Rossum for a conversation about being bomb ass actresses with Variety.

Alison Bechdel has a huge piece in The New Yorker this week. I love it!
