Out actor Mel Shimkovitz has a very cool part in Transparent, which she told us about at the premiere in LA last week. She also gave us some scoop on her starring role in the short film Maddy, which follows “a genderqueer widow who carries a child using their late wife’s embryo.” Clea DuVall plays Mel’s best friend in the short, which is directed by Devon Kirkpatrick and is readying to hit film festivals in the next year.
