“Chicago Fire”: Our favorite #ShaycagoFire tweets from “Always”
Over two seasons Leslie Shay became a beloved, flawed, wonderful character on Chicago Fire. Many of us knew that she was most likely going to be the person killed this season, but we also held out hope that we were going to be wrong. Shay was the heart and soul of Firehouse 51 and her death makes sense from a storytelling perspective because no one touched more of the lives in that house. But, dammit, losing Shay feels really shitty. I think we can all hope that she lives on with all the other gone too soon queer characters we have come to love over the years. Here, for the last time, are a few of your #ShaycagoFire tweets.

I get that killing off main characters is brave and interesting. Killing off lesbians is the opposite of both. #ChicagoFire #ShaycagoFire

“Oh good, they killed Shay. This is a delightful episode and I can’t wait for the next episode”said NO LESBIAN #shaycagofire #ChicagoFire – Elizabeth D-V (@324_B21) September 24, 2014
@lucyhallowell At least shay didn’t have her last word’s on the show being “is this because i’m a lesbian?” #shaycagofire

@lucyhallowell @afterellen I am amazed they killed the only lesbian/gay character that network even has. We need Olivia Benson to even this. – Bethany Danielle (@TnDani) September 24, 2014
Chicago Fire spoiler! Shay can now meet lots of cute gays in heaven who were also killed off by shows that didn’t know what to do with them.
