Morning Brew – Kelly Clarkson talks lesbian fans, “kezbos”

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend.

Kelly Clarkson talked about her “Kezbos” with Pride Source.

One girl on tour came up and just introduced herself and was like, “I’m a Kezbo,” and I was like, “What?!” She was like, “A Kezbo – your lesbian fans.” And I was like, “Wait – there’s enough of you to have a group? That’s amazing! Awesome! Go me!” And she was like, “Yeah, we just love you. We’re gonna bring you to the other side.” And I was like, “All right, well, keep trying!”

Leonardo DiCaprio is trying to get his dream film made. It’s called The Crowded Room and, in it, he’d play real life criminal Billy Milligan, a man who had 24 different personalities inside of me, including “Adalana, the shy, lonely, affection-starved lesbian who ‘used’ Billy’s body in the rapes that led to his arrest.” Leo as a lesbian? Erika Linder would be great for that role, actually.

Out this month in YA: Not Otherwise Specified by Hannah Moskowitz, which Bustle describes as:

In Not Otherwise Specified, Moskowitz introduces us to Etta, who is sick and tired of getting labels stuck all over her by her fellow residents in a small Nebraska town. She feels like she doesn’t quite fit into society’s pre-defined groups, constantly being reminded she’s not gay/straight enough as a bisexual, not black/white enough, not sick/healthy enough. But through Etta’s friendship with the straight, white, Christian Bianca, who also suffers from anorexia, Moskowitz defies all stereotypes and pushes through a story about a relationship that can help show you your true identity.

The American Military Partner Association is telling the story of Melissa Perkins-Fercha, an Iraq war veteran who has been ordered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) “to pay back her federal veterans benefits tied to her legal wife and daughter because the state of Texas does not recognize her same-sex marriage.” Sounds TOTALLY FAIR, right? Yeah, no.
