“This Just Out with Liz Feldman” is back with all new episodes today

Seven years ago, we launched the kitchen table talk show, This Just Out with Liz Feldman, and you were instant fans. A stand-up comic, writer, and out and proud lesbian, Liz invited viewers home with her where she welcomed guests like The L Word‘s Erin Daniels and Kate Moennig, beloved actresses Clea DuVall and Melanie Lynskey, and musicians like Uh Huh Her and Tegan and Sara.

Liz shot her last episode four years ago, and took some time off to do a few things like, you know, create a new TV show with a major lesbian character that is produced by Ellen DeGeneres and debuts on NBC on March 17. But now that the show is on hiatus (aka ready for us to watch!), Liz has announced the return of This Just Out, which we will run here on AfterEllen.com, staring today.

“I loved doing This Just Out and I’ve thought of bringing it back so many times over the last five years, but I’ve been working pretty much non-stop,” Liz said. “I poured my heart and soul into making One Big Happy and now I finally have some free time to do whatever I want — and what I want is to make more episodes of TJO!”

Because a lot has changed in four years time, Liz said there will be some differences in setting (she moved) and in production value (“because you couldn’t get much worse than what we were doing before. We used to shoot the show with one camera on a tripod and no lights.”), but fans can expect the same fun vibes from the first time around.

“I can tell you that the new season will be pretty faithful to the previous incarnation,” Liz said. “I’m still the same silly lesbian who wants to make you laugh by making my guests uncomfortable. I still want to make you feel good about being gay. I still have a rainbow sword and a dirty mind.”

Her first confirmed guest is a familiar face: Sara Quin.

“It’ll be my first time interviewing her solo,” Liz said. “Tegan is so jealous. Pun super intended.”

As of now, Liz has four episodes planned for the near future but wants to do more.

“In the last five years, I’ve met some awesome women who would be fantastic guests,” Liz said. “I’m leaving it open-ended—because why not!”

Truly, Liz is bringing the show back for the fans. Her star has risen since she first showed up on AfterEllen, but she’s continued to feel the love from This Just Out viewers.

“I want you guys to know that I’m bringing TJO back because of you. Because you are the greatest fans a non-famous lesbian doing an internet show from her kitchen could ask for,” Liz said. “I read all your comments, and I so appreciate your requests to bring back the show and your kind words about what the show meant to you. You guys crack me up and warm my heart and I can’t wait to connect with you again.”

Check back later today for the first new episode of This Just Out with Liz Feldman. One Big Happy premieres on NBC on Tuesday, March 17 at 9:30/8:30c.
