Morning Brew – Raven-Symoné gets controversial on “The View”

Good morning! If you’re in or around NYC, we’d really love to have you karaoke with us tonight at Planet Rose.

Rapper Shaggy is mistaken about what a lesbian is, because he thinks he is one.

“Sweetheart let me tell you this, I am the number one lesbian. Ain’t nobody love more woman than me, and I am Jamaican so I represent for all Lesbians right there. There has been a movement and I am leading it.”

He continues to say some really ridiculous things about LGBT Jamaicans.

“There are a lot of gays that I see in Jamaica that are affectionate. You see Jamaica has a stigma where people think we are the greatest gay bashers in the world; but that is not the case. I live in Kingston and there are a lot of gay people in Jamaica, and nobody is walking around and killing gays, if you look at the statistics there has not been any  killing of gays in Jamaica. The only Killings you hear is gay on gay crime and that is a crime of passion. So don’t listen to the propaganda and be misled, have you been to Jamaica, you should visit.”

I’d like to know what kind of statistics Shaggy is looking at. Perhaps he can provide us with these studies and I can finally feel like Jamaica would be a safe vacation spot.

Raven-Symoné, is co-hosting on The View this week and yesterday, she upset viewers with a remark in regards to a recent comment Rodner Figueroa made on Univision likening Michelle Obama to an ape. Raven said that she thinks “some people just look like animals,” which is problematic for its racist implications, as co-host Rosie Perez speaks to. Raven doesn’t say she thinks the First Lady does resemble an ape, however, pointing out that she thinks she, herself, looks like a bird.
