Morning Brew – “Carol” officially headed to Cannes

Good morning!

France made history this week by allowing “four lesbian women to adopt children born to their wives abroad through artificial insemination.” Even though it’s legal to marry your same sex partner and adopt a child together, “only heterosexual couples are allowed to have medically assisted fertilization.” That’s a head scratcher.

While we’re talking about France, Carol is officially making its premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in May. The adaptation of Patricia Highsmith‘s lesbian-themed novel The Price of Salt will compete for the Palm d’Or prize.

And now you’re shipping Anna Kendrick with Emily Blunt.

Courtney Barnett’s new video for “Kim’s Caravan” is hauntingly beautiful.
