Marisa Tomei will play a lesbian billionaire on Season 2 of “Empire”

Because Empire needed to get even better than its outstanding first season, the show has cast Marisa Tomei in a queer role for Season 2. The Academy Award-winning actress will play “Mimi Whiteman, a demanding venture capitalist who becomes involved with the Lyon family. The Forbes list billionaire is a lover of hip-hop, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women.”

The role will be recurring, which mean she’ll hopefully be in a good amount of episodes. The Fox series is also casting a young lesbian rapper named Betty Barz (Siya had an audition) and we will see more of AzMarie‘s role as Hakeem’s friend Chicken. No word yet on if Serayah will return in the bisexual role of pop star Tiana, but we can remain hopeful/inundate showrunner Ilene Chaiken with ideas.

As for Marisa Tomei, if you haven’t seen her in the lesbian-themed short film She Said, She Said, now would be the perfect time.

Empire returns for a second season on September 23.
