Morning Brew – First look at Jillian Michaels’ new reality series, “Just Jillian”

Good morning!

TeenVogue debunks some lesbian myths.

Research shows that sexual education leaves out anything remotely queer. From a teacher who was asked to comment on this:

“In terms of the promotion of homosexuality and lesbianism, we don’t really get into all that. If they openly want to discuss homosexuality, I don’t think the classroom is the best way to do it. It’s something that we say if you have concerns about we have the drop-in clinic with the school nurse.”

Oh, yay, another all-male band has written a song about their dumb luck of falling for a lesbian.

Director Todd Haynes narrates the scene from Carol where Therese and Carol first meet.

Elite Daily finds four reasons why it’s awesome to be bisexual. (Only four?!)

Lana Wachowski helped Eddie Redmayne develop his trans woman character in The Danish Girl. Much more on that film today and tomorrow here on AfterEllen.

Queer artist Wynne Greenwood talks with ArtForum about her new show at the New Museum. A quote:

With my newer work, I’m trying to situate queerness within conversations about peace, cultural peace-and violence. For example, the most recent piece I made is a conversation between a head made of fake bricks and a head made of decorative butterfly wings about “compromise.” The heads’ materials really inform their personalities and ideology. Also, I love the way that feminists talk and take time to hear each other. I like that still water treading. You know, “We’re not trying to get there as fast as we can. We’re going to sit here and deal with it.” I think that really comes out in my work formally, in the way that I edit, the pacing.

Miley Cyrus‘s new music video is super psychedelic.

Backstage went behind-the-scenes with Gotham star Erin Richards.

Jillian Michaels‘ new reality show, Just Jillian, is premiering on E in January, and we finally get a glimpse of what’s to come on the series. It looks like a lot of opinions! Goddes bless you, Heidi Rhoades.
