Lez Dish It Out! AfterEllen’s LGBT Weekly Round-Up

We’re officially one week into Pride Month and the party is still going strong. In this installment of the round-up, I have some very curious news about Kristen Stewart and her ex (?) Alicia Cargile. Plus, Sarah Paulson signed up for a new Steven Spielberg movie while Tegan and Sara wrote a heartwarming letter to the LGBTQ community. Lez get to it!

Kristen Might Have Spent The Night At Alicia’s House

Photo: Instagram

This is not a drill!!! I repeat, THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

On Monday morning, Kristen was spotted leaving Alicia’s house in Los Angeles… just one week after she was seen engaging in a cute coupley moment with girlfriend Stella Maxwell. If you haven’t been obsessively following the Stewart and Cargile saga like I have for the past X amount of years (there’s no shame in my game, people), let me fill you in.

Me right now piecing together Kristen and Alicia’s relationship timeline:

After first getting together sometime in 2014, Kristen and Alicia dated on-and-off for close to three years. Although the lesbian actress rarely spoke of Cargile publicly, she finally declared that she was “so in love” with her in August of 2016. The “love” didn’t last too long though, because shortly thereafter Stewart moved on to St. Vincent… and then on to her current girlfriend Stella Maxwell.

As for the morning in question, here’s a headline about the supposed reunion:

Another piece of evidence:

If you’re wondering why outlets are reporting KStew left Alicia’s house in the morning, that’s because she was seen at a gas station in the ENTIRE SAME OUTFIT the day before:

Although it’s totally possible this could have been a friendly and innocent visit, this news is a bit…. interesting. I honestly have no idea what to make of this sighting — all I can say is, pass me the popcorn.

REAL LIVE UPDATE:

As I was doing my final scan of the news, I caught that Kristen and Stella were spotted holding hands while out in L.A. on Thursday afternoon. I think it’s safe to wager these two are on good terms and that nothing is amiss in their relationship.

Ruby Rose & Jessica Origliasso Reveal They’re Safe Following London Bridge Attack

What a relief.

On June 3, Ruby took to Twitter to reassure fans that she and Jessica were safe following the tragic London Bridge attack. Scarily enough, the lovebirds were in town while the terrorist attack occurred.

Origliasso followed up the celesbian’s tweet with her own, writing:

After the scary uncertainty, Rose shared a sweet message about the appreciating the ones you love:

Well said.

P.S. My thoughts are with the victims of the attack and their loved ones. It’s goes without saying that London is one strong and resilient city.

Carmilla The Movie Is Currently Filming

Take note, “Carmilla fans! For those who’ve been following the web series over the past few years, I have good news — the movie is finally filming. Over the past few days, Elise Bauman and Natasha Negovanlis have been promoting the lesbian vampire movie all over social media in addition to gifting fans with a lot of behind-the-scenes shots.

Variety also revealed the movie has a fall 2017 release date. Fans will able to purchase the movie on pre-order for $9.99 HERE.

As for the plot, the mag reported on Monday:

“In “Carmilla the Movie,” it has been five years since Laura (Bauman) and Carmilla (Negovanlis) vanquished the apocalypse and Carmilla became a bonafide mortal human. They have settled in to a cozy apartment in downtown Toronto; Laura continues to hone her journalism skills while Carmilla adjusts to a non-vampire lifestyle. Their domestic bliss is suddenly ruptured when Carmilla begins to show signs of “re-vamping” — from a fondness for bloody treats to accidental biting — while Laura has started having bizarre, ghostly dreams. The couple must now enlist their old friends from Silas University to uncover the unknown supernatural threat and save humanity — including Carmilla’s.”
A producer on the film added:
“We are in the unique position of producing a feature film with a massive built-in and ever-growing fan base. This film, and the appetite for it, is a perfect example of how we create, connect and ultimately, serve our fans by expanding and extending the brand in new and exciting ways.”
P.S. “Wynonna Earp’s” Dominique Provost-Chalkley has a role in the movie!

Sarah Paulson To Star In Steven Spielberg Movie The Papers

Gif: Tumblr

Ever time I think Paulson has reached a new career high, she ends up outdoing herself. On Tuesday, outlets reported the queer actress had signed on for Spielberg’s movie The Papers. The film will detail the Washington Post‘s choice to publish the classified Pentagon Papers in 1971. For those unfamiliar with the Pentagon Papers, they detailed disturbing truths about the Vietnam War initially not made public to the mainstream media and Americans. The documents ultimately proved the United States’ involvement in the war was more extensive than Americans AND Congress were led to believe. What followed were charges of conspiracy, espionage, and theft of government property against Daniel Ellsberg, the former United States military analyst who leaked the papers to news outlets.

At this time, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Matthew Rhys, David Cross, and Alison Brie are some of other names to sign on for project. The movie will see a limited release on Dec. 22 and go wide on Jan. 12, 2018.

On another note, Sarah is not the teacher from Matilda. I repeat, Sarah is not the beloved Miss Honey. In a funny yet random twist, the internet freaked out this week when they learned Paulson did not take part in the 1996 film. In reality, it was Embeth Jean Davidtz who snagged the role.

I don’t see too much of a resemblance, but I think Sarah should take it as a compliment. Miss Honey is and always will be a babe!

Holland Taylor’s TV Series “Mr. Mercedes” Gets Its First Teaser

Photo: Audience Network

As for Paulson’s lady love Holland, she also had a good week. On Monday, AT&T Audience Network dropped the first teaser for “Mr. Mercedes,” an adaptation of Stephen King’s 2014 novel. As I previously mentioned, the television series centers around a retired detective who compels himself to track down a serial killer after he receives a series of taunting letters. You can check out the teaser trailer and a longer behind-the-scenes trailer below:

The series premieres on August 9 at 8 pm.

Tegan & Sara Pen A “Love Letter” To The LGBTQ Community

Photo: Instagram

I know I’m a little late on this, but it’s too good not to share. To celebrate Pride Month, Billboard asked influencers to write “love letters” to the LGBTQ community. Read the lesbian musicians’ letter below:

The older we get the more significant Pride becomes for us. Taking time to celebrate our community — while also honoring and mourning LGBTQ people past, present, and future — is so important. This is why Pride is still so significant no matter how far we have come as a community. LGBTQ people are vibrant, beautiful, vast and valuable. Taking the time to show up and stand with our fellow LGBTQ friends, families and community members, as well as our allies, is how we continue to reflect to the world how wonderful we all are! While we are living in challenging and sometimes scary times, the experience of spending time with many leading LGBTQ organizations and activists in this country has continued to give us confidence in the future. This year we are going to take time during Pride to learn more about our early LGBTQ history, because more than ever before it’s important we amplify those stories. We hope each and every LGBTQ person has a wonderful Pride, and let’s take time together to reflect on how far we’ve come, how far we have to go, how strong we are, and how proud we should be to be LGBTQ.”

Bonus Time! T&G Curate A Playlist For Pride Month

In honor of LGBTQ artists and their allies, the duo curated a special playlist for Spotify. I’ve shared a screenshot of the playlist below, but you can listen to it in full HERE.

In the article, Wiley mentioned how she dropped some MAJOR hints about wanting Morelli to propose:

“I’d finish doing the dishes, and Lauren would come in to thank me, and I’d say, ‘I’m just trying to get chose’. That was my way of saying, ‘Choose me! Choose me! I want you to marry me.'”
Samira Opens Up On Orange Is The New Black Season 5

I can’t believe OITNB premieres its latest season today! In honor of the occasion, the lesbian discussed what it will be like without the beloved Poussey:

I’m looking forward to watching the season and have no idea what is happening. I’m honored that Poussey was such a huge influence on the show, and (she) has such a big resonance with people who are watching it. I think it will probably be a little weird, but I think it will also feel good to see that she doesn’t just go away, that hopefully, people will be talking about her for a long time in the show. And in the world, too.”
I have no doubt people will be talking about Poussey for a long time. Take a minute this weekend to pour one out in her memory, you guys.

Bella Thorne Celebrates Pride Month With A Message Of Self Love

Following Bella’s disastrous Cannes vacation with Scott Disick (I know, I know), the bisexual actress shared an uplifting message on Pride Month. Its almost been two years since Thorne came out as bi on Twitter. Time really flies!

Here’s to hoping Bella has a better month in love following her incident with Disick. Onward and upwards!

Amber Heard Has A Spice Girls Filled Karaoke Night

Photo: Instagram

Get it, Amber.

On Monday, the bisexual actress enjoyed a night of karaoke with the cast of “Aquaman.” Considering Heard is in the midst of filming the movie in Australia, it only makes sense she’d want to take a little break.

Check out the actress belting out the Spice Girls’ anthem “Wanna Be” below:

Following the evening out, Amber woke up to wine-stained chairs:

Well, it seems like a fun and wild night out. Props to the assistant who likely had to haul it over to Ikea for new patio cushions — you’re the real hero in this story.

Beth Ditto Talks Body Acceptance & Gushes Over Her Wife

Photo: Instagram

In anticipation of Beth’s solo album “Fake Sugar,” she took to Vogue magazine to discuss her role as a self-described “fat lesbian feminist” and the state of her marriage. The article was a gorgeous smorgasbord of quotes, people.

On her wife of almost three years Kristin Ogata:

“When people say they married their best friend, well, I really did it. It is different, now that we’re married. There’s something that’s just solid, in a way that it was not solid before. Some people get scared, some don’t. Some feel more secured. For me, it was just very different, there was an air about it. It was like . . . the umami of feelings I’m a nester. I’m also trying to make myself a crochet blazer and a giant poncho out of granny squares for the stage. If House of Holland and Gucci could do it, so can I.”
On body positivity:
“The fat acceptance movement caught a lot of steam and has taken off in a beautiful way and it’s really cool. And part of being an adult is seeing how the movement has moved on from me. Ten years ago, I was having these conversations that are now 10 years old. What I’m seeing now is there is a lot of conversation about feminism, how we need to make it intersectional, and that has to be the priority. We are seeing a lot of conventional beauty ideas being put onto the fat movement, and that is neither helpful nor the point. Coming from a punk scene, it was never about beauty for me, anyway. It’s not about making fashion accept you. Like, right now, Ashley Graham has gotten a lot of backlash because people say she’s ‘not fat enough’ and that not everyone is an hourglass. But she is, and people should shut up. They blame her instead of the industry-it makes me so irritated! It’s like, just quit being mean to each other. It’s not hard to be decent.”
As I mentioned, the article has a lot of really great quotes, including what it was like for Ditto to grow as a gay teenager in Arkansas. I recommend reading the piece — it’s interesting to hear Beth’s thoughts and opinions as a solo artist.

Alright, I’m out! Here’s to everyone having a great weekend.
