Want to know the status of a particular movie, TV show, or band? Wondering what a certain actress is up to these days? Send your entertainment-related questions to [email protected] – with your first name, city and country – and we’ll try to answer as many as we can.

Question: Probably about a year ago AE mentioned a pilot/film about a diverse group of people in LA including Guinevere Turner as an intersex woman in a lesbian relationship called Don’t Go.

While Don’t Go still has a website it doesn’t mention is it will continue with the show online or on Logo, if it’s making a DVD or any other information about how and where someone can see the pilot, or if there are more episodes those. Have you guys heard anything?

ÔÇò Sheila J

Answer: I tracked down series creator Amber Sharp and asked her for an update on Don’t Go and her other upcoming projects. This is what she had to say:

It’s always great to hear from people that are still interested in watching the show! We are still shopping the show around to different networks in hopes of finding a home. The pilot is still playing in international festivals, but nothing in the US at the moment. I am currently writing two feature scripts: Milking Cows and This Time and hope to be shooting one of them by early 2010! Milking Cows is a feature I wrote about four friends living in Chicago and it follows their lives. I’m thinking of turning Milking Cows into a TV pilot, therefore, it’s still in the early development stage. This Time explores the question of what happens when love gives you a second chance and that second chance may be with someone else. It reveals the struggle of two women trying to save their troubled four-year relationship despite personal loss, professional frustration, and smothering-family obligation.

This is very encouraging news, as I had begun to think that there was an actual shortage of lesbian drama (in the realm of pop culture, that is).

Question: I’m particularly interested in the film Leadcatcher directed by M.T Sheridan. But as per IMDb.com, it is still in post production. Can you let me know an approximate date of release in DVD?

ÔÇò Gloria, Barcelona, Spain

Answer: For those of you who haven’t been following the film, Leadcatcher is a movie about superheroes who have turned in their capes and masks for real jobs but then come out of retirement to protect one of their own. The film stars Eric Jensen, Itty Bitty Titty Committee‘s Nicole Vicius, and Anna Maria Alberghetti, of salad dressing fame (look it up)!

I contacted the production company and was told that Leadcatcher should be released on DVD this fall.

For those of you interested in superheroes, science fiction, and other topics of that ilk, you’ll be pleased to learn that at the Comic-Con International annual fan convention in San Diego this month (July 23-26) there will be a couple of panels devoted to the representation of LGBT people in comics. Those include “True Confessions: LGBT Slice-of-Life Comics,” with panelists Lee Marrs (The Further Fattening Adventures of Pudge, Girl Blimp) and Ariel Schrag (Likewise), and the long-running “Gays in Comics” panel, featuring “top-level gay or gay-friendly creators” from mainstream and independent companies. For more information on these (and other) panels, check out the Comic-Con website.

Question: Remember the movie Red Doors? It came out around the same time as Saving Face and I feel like it was kinda overshadowed by it. But I loved Red Doors. What are all those women doing these days?

ÔÇò Jeanine, Pittsburgh

Answer: I agree that Red Doors didn’t get the attention that it deserved, which is why I was happy to learn that writer/director Georgia Lee has many other upcoming projects for us to look forward to. I asked her what she currently has in the works, and she told me:

For the past few years, I’ve been busy writing and developing television pilots for CBS and NBC. While I have loved writing for TV, I have missed the film world. So, I am now working on a new psychological thriller feature script in addition to television development. It all keeps me very busy and out of trouble!

I also tracked down Red Doors star Mia Riverton (who played Mia Scarlett in Red Doors), and she’s been very busy as well:

I have recently shot episodes (as an actor) of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO and Turbodates (a comedy web series from Terry Rossio, screenwriter of Shrek and Pirates of the Caribbean), and I just wrapped a horror film called Open House with Anna Paquin (True Blood), Stephen Moyer, Brian Geraghty, Rachel Blanchard, and Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica).

On the producing side, I am working on an independent feature to be directed by Marilyn Agrelo (Mad Hot Ballroom) co-starring Virginia Madsen, Olympia Dukakis and Mary-Kate Olsen. I also have several writing projects (film and TV) in the works.

Other than that, I continue to write and play music, host/emcee live events, and travel as much as possible.

Finally, Red Doors producer Jane Chen told me that she’s switching things up a bit with a foray into writing. Writing of the fanged variety:

I’m currently co-authoring a series of vampire novels with Nell Stark under the pen name “Trinity Tam.” The four-book series has been picked up for publishing by Bold Strokes Books and the first book, everafter, will be out in October 2009. The second book, nevermore, will be published some time next year. And yes, they are lesbian vampires (and werewolves).

Werewolves! Does this mean the long-standing cinematic love affair with lesbian vampires is about to get a little competition?

If you’re interested in getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse at independent filmmaking, check out Jane Chen’s Red Doors production diary article for AfterEllen.com. Fascinating!

Question: Whatever happened to the lesbian intern on the show College Hill: Interns?

ÔÇò Layla R., Rhode Island

Answer: The intern in question, model and actress Kathy Harris, was definitely the most interesting part of that show. I passed your question along to her, and she told me:

Although the show aired now going on two years ago I still get recognized everywhere I go. The people never cease to amaze me. The strangest place I was recognized recently was on my vacation to Puerto Rico. That was crazy! I’m way more comfortable being recognized than I was at first I hated it! Now I realize it takes a lot of courage for people to approach and I just soak in all that lovely energy. I love all the fans!

I have been writing freelance for J’Adore Magazine for about a year now. I never knew that door was open for me, but College Hill definitely helped. I am signed to BMG models and Encore Talent Agency in Chicago where I’m located. I am still in school with my concentration in the Arts. I am about to go to flight attendant school, because I absolutely adore traveling and I love new challenges. I just got a passport and I’m trying to join the mile high club…LOL! I definitely have a lot going on!

The last performances I did were with Healthworks Theatre Company here in Chicago. However, because of my schedule I haven’t been able to do as much, but if anyone wants to get in contact with me or follow what I’m doing, you can follow me at twitter.com/foreverdream36, Facebook, or MySpace. I try and write everyone back when I get a chance.

Suddenly, the old-timey “double major” seems particularly unimpressive.
