Here’s why we’re excited about season 2 of ‘Westworld’

A new season of Westworld will be out on April 22, with Evan Rachel Wood returning as Dolores Abernathy. If you’re a fan of the show, you must really be on the edge of your seat for this new season because it’s been a while…more than a year, in fact. But the wait is over, and here are the most recently released photos of season 2:

While we were first drawn to the sci-fi/western hybrid because of Evan Rachel Wood, we stayed for Thandie Newton, who plays Maeve Millay, the badass madam. Maeve leads the uprising at the end of season 1, which you’ll want to get caught up on before April 22. HBO describes her character: The no-nonsense businesswoman begins to question her reality and stealthily takes matters into her own hands. Indeed. And it’s Maeve who kept us coming back for more in season1. Watching her character stealthily and magnificently build her army is the kind of female empowerment we need to see on TV right now.

We also recommend following Thandie Newton on Instagram and reading what she told The Guardian in 2016 about her nude scene. Who knew they offered actresses vagina wigs on set??? #TheMoreYouKnow

We don’t have any inside scoop on the new season, unfortunately, but we are aware of the fandoms and the speculations that blew up Reddit after Westworld aired its season 2 trailer during the Super Bowl. And while speculation is always fun, they are limited to just that – speculation. Co-creator Jonathan Nolan told an SXSW panel, ‘We love to fuck with Reddit,” and went on to elaborate, “There are lot of theories about Westworld’s first season that proved to be plot twists. I think for every fan theory, we actually had an episode that dealt with it. We’re figuring out how to sort of interact with that in the second season. A somewhat controversial plan that we’re working on; we’ll have an announcement about it in a couple weeks. It’s incredibly gratifying to see people put that much work—not just into deciphering the season, but the fan art and music. The creativity you see coming back at you when you’re making one of these things is extraordinary.”

Here is the trailer in all its glory.
