Casting News: Sandra Bullock, Bai Ling and … Prince?

First up: Sandra Bullock, who cracked everyone up in the FBI-cum-Cinderella story Miss Congeniality and recently played iconic author Harper Lee inInfamous, has just signed on to star in the comedy One of the Guys. Bullock will also be co-producing the flick, which is about a tomboy who freaks out her group of male friends when she “embraces her feminine side.” Hey, sounds kinda like Miss Congeniality, don’t cha think? I, for one, am OK with that. I love a Cinderella story. Plus, I am not ashamed to say that I love Sandra Bullock. She just makes me laugh – in a good way.

And then: Bai Ling, who was in the problematic Spike Lee lesbian movie She Hate Me (and has made provocative bisexual statements), will join the cast of Lost for a three-episode arc. She reportedly plays one of Jack’s (Matthew Fox) past love interests who is apparently responsible for his tattoos. Hmm. Interesting choice.

Last but not least: OK, it’s not really casting, but Prince (who was just nominated for five Grammy awards for his latest album, 3121) has signed on to perform during halftime at the Super Bowl on Feb. 4, which will be televised on CBS. During the 2006 Super Bowl, an estimated 141 million Americans tuned in to watch the game and the halftime show, in which the Rolling Stones were censored during their performance of some racy lyrics, a reaction to the 2004 brouhaha over Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction.”

Knowing the Purple One, how long do you think the show will be delayed to make sure that he keeps things under wraps? Five seconds? Ten seconds? Now that he’s a Jehovah’s Witness, perhaps the days of “Controversy” are over. Sigh.
