This Week in Lesbianish TV: Feb. 5 – Feb. 11

We run a lot of recaps on AfterEllen.com, but we aren’t able to run them on every single show with a lesbian or bisexual female character. It’s a great problem to have, really – too many shows on television with gay women. So we decided to do a weekly column giving you the basics on the lesbianish storylines and highlights from out lesbians who have regular shows on the tube. If we miss anything, we’d love for you to send us a tip.

Being Human (Mondays, SyFY): Emily was MIA this week.

Community (Thursdays, NBC): Britta befriends Paige, a girl she thinks is a lesbian. Little does she know, Paige befriended Britta for the same reason. At the Valentine’s Day dance, they embrace everyone staring, thinking they are equally progressive for being friends with a lesbian. They both realize they’ve been wrong about one another, but not until they start kissing on the dance floor. Watch the full episode at NBC.com.

GLEE (Tuesdays, Fox): With two new episodes this week, here’s the lesbianish gist: The Super Bowl episode had Brittany, Santana and Quin deciding which group deserves their loyalty — Cheerios or Glee club. Upon realizing Sue Sylvester is willing to kill Brittany by shooting her out of a cannon, they choose wisely and go back to New Directions. On “Silly Love Songs,” Artie was Brittany’s valentine. Sigh. Watch full episodes at Fox.com.

Grey’s Anatomy (Thursdays, ABC): Callie is trying to wean herself off caffeine but can’t handle it. McSteamy and Arizona decide that they are voting parties on what the pregnant Callie should ingest, and they vote down caffeine. Callie decides she, her baby and her vagina get to vote too, so it’s a win for caffeine!Watch full episodes at ABC.com.

Portlandia (Fridays, IFC): Musicians Aimee Mann and Sarah McLachlan guest starred on this week’s episode, and they were put to work by Fred and Carrie. Aimee even gave an impromptu gig with an extended encore.

Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family, Mondays): Emily ends up swimming anchor at the swim meet, but only because Paige gets injured. Unfortunately, she was injured riding her bike in the rain, on her way home from Emily’s house where she came to apologize. Watch the full episode at ABCFamily.com.

Private Practice (Thursdays, ABC): Bizzy begs Addison for help after her new bride, Susan, collapses on the dance floor of their wedding. Unfortunately, things don’t end too well, despite Addison doing all she can. Watch full episodes at ABC.com.

Rules of Engagement (CBS, Mondays): No Brenda this week, and no word on when she’ll be back as of yet.

Skins (MTV, Mondays): This week, Tea tells Tony she felt a little something for him, and Cadie overhears their conversation. Yikes all around. Watch full episodes at MTV.com.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (Starz, Fridays): Gaia joins Lucretia and her husband in bed again, but now it’s feeling a little odd, like Gaia is looking for a little more than just sex. Also, a brutal rape on this week’s episode made it barely watchable.

The Good Wife (CBS, Tuesdays): Kalinda wasn’t a huge part of this week’s episode, which might be a good thing for her since last week she was the target of an investigation. She was helpful, though (per usual), in doing investigative work, even when she was found out by Michael J. Fox when she went to his house to get the dirt on why he quit his former job to do more philanthropic work. Watch full episodes at CBS.com.

White Collar (USA, Wednesdays): Diana runs a print analysis for Neal, and finds something intriguing. She calls him right away, and he meets her to find out the print belongs to a murder suspect named Ford. While doing surveillance on him, Diana brings him in for questioning, and later she slams his head into the hood of a car like the bad ass she is. Watch full episodes at USANetwork.com.

Bad Girls Club (Oxygen, Mondays): Bisexual Sydney returns to the house – and promptly pisses some housemates off and makes out with another guy. But during a trip to San Francisco, she decides to exit the house, which means, unless her replacement is gay or bisexual, I won’t be covering the show here anymore.

Brooklyn Kinda Love (Playboy TV, Saturdays): Bek and Erin visit a sex toy shop and get a tutorial on strap-ons. Bek lets Erin attempt to be the top, but things don’t go so well with roles reversed.

One Born Every Minute (Lifetime): A lesbian couple delivers a pair of twins and are excited to see which donor worked for them – one was black, the other white. Watch the full episode at MyLifetime.com.

Tabatha’s Salon Takeover (Bravo, Mondays): The owner of A Star is Born salon admits she’s not even sure she wants to keep the place open, which makes things even more rough for Tabatha. The salon is for kids only, which makes it an entertaining episode all around.

Worst Cooks in America (Food Network, Sundays): Out lesbian contestant Georgann is still in the running as one of the final six. This week, the challenge was to cook up a seafood dish with a side dish made of their least favorite ingredients.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show (WB): This week, Ellen had Justin Bieber on the show, and they attempted to figure out how Gaga’s new single, “Born This Way,” might sound. On Thursday, Ellen announced Portia has started cooking and she’s teaching herself. So far so good, Ellen says. Watch full episodes at ellen.warnerbros.com.

The Rachel Maddow Show ( MSNBC): Rachel continued her in-depth coverage of Egypt this week, including discussing what will be next for the country after it attempts to secure democracy. In lighter fare, she discussed Joan Rivers’ hair tips for her. Watch full episodes at MSNBC.com.

The Suze Orman Show (Fridays, CNBC): Callers want Suze’s permission to go on a luxury cruise or to buy tickets to a Pearl Jam concert. Suze just hopes everyone will protect themselves from people with hidden motives behind their financial advice. Watch video clips at CNBC.com.

The Talk (CBS): The best part of this week’s talk show was this morning, when Sara shared how she proposed to Ali. She told a story of taking Ali to Mexico, but the hotel was awful and so Sara grabbed their luggage and ran down the street to a better one. And in an anticlimactic end of the story, she gave her the ring and “it was good.” Also this week, Adam Lambert stopped by for a DVD announcement and to prove to Sara and co. he’s as manly as it gets.Watch full episodes at CBS.com.
