Linda Hunt is sticking around on “NCIS: Los Angeles”

Academy Award winning actress Linda Hunt has been in more than 25 films since the beginning of her career in 1980. You’ve likely seen her in at least one of them. She played Asian male dwarf Billy Kwan in The Year of Living Dangerously, wowing audiences and winning an Academy Award for her performance. Or maybe you’ve seen her in other memorable parts in comedies like Kindergarten Cop or She-Devil (my personal favorite). Perhaps you liked her in her black robe as a judge on Judging Amy. At any rate, she’s been around, and out, for more than 20 years.

Linda’s latest role is as Henrietta “Hetty” Lange on the NCIS spin-off, NCIS: Los Angeles. She joined the show in 2009, and TVLine has confirmed she’ll be staying on for another season as a regular when the show picks back up in the fall. In fact, they say they think she’ll be “the last one standing.”

Linda describes her character as “irascible, endlessly curious, a woman of mystery, a liar and a teller of truths.” And as of the season finale last month, Hetty had disappeared and the entire episode was dedicated to finding out where she was and why she quit her job as operations manager at the NCIS. We ended up finding out a lot more about her backstory, which means we’ll hopefully only get to know Hetty better and better. (No more spoilers, I promise!)

It’s so cool to see Linda still getting jobs at 66, because she’s a true talent; a character actress that seems to be an exception to the rule in Hollywood. She’s been with her spouse, Karen Klein, for 22 years, according to the show’s website on CBS. NCIS is the second highest rated scripted show on TV, so it’s great to see an out actress getting an even bigger role on the show. A testament to how fabulous Ms. Hunt is.

Do you watch NCIS: LA? Doesn’t Linda deserve to be a regular on our TV screens?
