“She’s in London” follows a group of queer women as they try to save a SoHo lesbian bar

She’s in London, a new web series from Tello Films and Planet M Productions, takes us across the pond to meet a group of ladies trying to save the LBT bar that is the center of their community. The bar in question is She Bar (naturally) and it’s where a lot of the action happens in She’s in London.

The series has the archetypes that we have come to expect from a lesbian leaning series:

Theo, the lothario with a heart of gold and messed up priorities.

Sam, Theo’s sweet and funny bisexual best friend, who left her girlfriend, Mel, for a guy. (She’s now single and looking to mingle.)

Jill, the gruff and wise bar owner.

Mel, Sam’s uptight ex, who is still smarting over their breakup and also working for the company trying to take down She Bar.

There are also a great ensemble of butch and femme women, including my favorite, Addie, who deserves her own storyline if the show gets a second season.

While in a way, we’ve seen a version of this story before, She’s in London sets itself apart by tackling the very real issue of disappearing spaces for queer women. It asks the question: What becomes of a community when its heart is removed?

The series also is much racier than your typical web series fare, with lots of sex and even nudity. It may be a little rough around the edges, but totally worth checking out, and honestly, kind of addictive.

She’s in London premieres September 27th on Tello.
